"Bulleya" (Urdu: بللیہ ) is a song by the Pakistani sufi rock band Junoon (band), Junoon, released in 1999. It is the first track from the band's fifth album, ''Parvaaz'' (1999), recorded at Abbey Road Studios, London and released on EMI Records. The song is a famous kafi written by the sufi saint Bulleh Shah. Bulleh Shah is famous for his spiritual and metaphysical poetry, and ''Bullah Ki Jaana'' (the poem on which the song is based) is one of his well-known poems. The song is composed and produced by lead guitarist and founder of the band Salman Ahmad. It is the lead single (music), single on the album, the song uses blending of rock guitars and bluesy vocals with eastern elements like the use of tablas, raga-inspired melodies and traditional folk music, Pakistani folk music. Junoon ( ) is a Pakistani sufi rock band from Lahore, Punjab (Pakistani province), Punjab, Pakistan, and Tappan, New York, formed in 1990. The band is directed by founder, lead guitarist and songwriter, Salman Ahmad, who was soon joined by keyboardist Nusrat Hussain, bass guitarist Brian O'Connell (musician), Brian O'Connell and vocalist Ali Azmat. Junoon is Pakistan's and one of South Asia's most successful bands. Parvaaz
''Parvaaz'' (Urdu: پرواز, literal English translation: "flight") is the fifth studio album and sixth overall album by the Pakistani band Junoon. It was released in 1999 and features songs mostly based on the poetry of the great Punjabi Sufi poet Bulleh Shah. Background The album was recorded and mixed at Abbey Road Studios in London and was hailed by critics as Junoon's finest work to date and was released by EMI and Lips Records. Singles like "Bulleya", "Sajna", "Ghoom" and "Mitti" were a success and did well at the music charts. UNESCO presented Junoon with an award for their achievements towards Peace in South Asia. Bulleh Shah
Sayyid Abdullāh Shāh Qādrī (; ), popularly known as Baba Bulleh Shah and vocatively as Bulleya, was a Punjabi revolutionary philosopher, reformer and Chishti Sufi poet, regarded the 'Father of Punjabi Enlightenment'; and one of the greatest poets of the Punjabi language. He criticised powerful religious, political, and social institutions; and is revered as the 'Poet of the People' amongst Punjabis. Born in Uch, Subah of Multan, Bulleh Shah belonged to a family of religious scholars. In his juvenile years, his family moved to Malakwal, and later Pandoke, in the Subah of Lahore; where he got his early education from his father, while working as a herder, in the village. ''Rock & Roll Jihad'' is the first soundtrack album and the eighteenth overall album of the Pakistani band, Junoon. The soundtrack is based on Salman Ahmad and Junoon's musical journey. The album features five new studio recordings along with five live tracks from "The concert for Pakistan" and the album was officially released on 1 June 2010 under the record label Nameless Sufi Music on all major online stores. Junoon For Peace
''Junoon for Peace'' is the first live album and the eleventh overall album by the Pakistani band, Junoon. The album was recorded live on October 27, 2001. The concert was a tribute to the victims of the World Trade Center attack and a call for an end to the subsequent discrimination faced by Arabs and South Asians in United States. Background Following the 9/11 attacks, Junoon helped to organise a concert at the General Assembly on UN Day with Junoon and an Indian group performing at the Assembly Hall, a first of its kind. They also released what they called their first English-language single, "No More", an anti-violence song which deals directly with the events of that day. Bullah Ki Jaana
''Bulleya Ki Jaana'' ( is a '' kafi'' poem written by Punjabi Sufi poet and philosopher Bulleh Shah. It is one of the most popular of his ''kafis'', incorporating religious, philosophical, and humanist aspects. In the 1990s Junoon, a rock band from Pakistan, rendered "Bullah Ki Jaana". In 2005, Rabbi Shergill's rock/fusion version of ''Bullah Ki Jaana'' became a chart-topper in India and Pakistan. The Wadali Brothers, a Punjabi Sufi group from India, have also released a version of "Bullah Ki Jaana" on their album ''Aa Mil Yaar... Call of the Beloved''. Call () is a Pakistani rock band from Lahore, Pakistan. The current line-up was formed in 2002, the group consists of Junaid Khan (lead vocalist), Zulfiqar J. Khan (lead guitar, producer) and Muhammad Sultan Raja (rhythm guitar).
