Bull Harbour is a settlement in British Columbia, Canada. Bull Harbour is a settlement on Hope Island, just north of northern Vancouver Island across Goletas Channel. It has an estimated population of 2-20 people. The name Bull Harbour has been in use since at least 1841. The name likely comes from the large and fierce sea lions that frequent the area. Hope Island (British Columbia)
Hope Island is an island in the Central Coast region of the Canadian province of British Columbia. It is located in Queen Charlotte Strait just west of Nigei Island and is separated from the northern end of Vancouver Island by Goletas Channel. Bull Harbour is on Hope Island. Hope Island is territory of the Tlatlasikwala Nation. The entirety of Hope Island is a Tlatlasikwala Indian reserve under federal Canadian law. No trepass without permission is allowed. Vancouver Island is an island in the northeastern Pacific Ocean and part of the Canadian province of British Columbia. Goletas Channel
Goletas Channel is a channel and strait on the north side of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. It separates Vancouver Island from Hope Island and Nigei Island, located just east of Cape Sutil, the northernmost point of Vancouver Island. The waters of Goletas Channel are part of northern Queen Charlotte Strait. The Nahwitti River empties into the western end of Goletas Channel, near the site of the historic Kwakwakaʼwakw village and maritime fur trade harbor known as Nahwitti. Sea lions are pinnipeds characterized by external ear flaps, long foreflippers, the ability to walk on all fours, short and thick hair, and a big chest and belly.
