Novyi Buh
Novyi Buh (, ) is a city in Bashtanka Raion, Mykolaiv Oblast, Bashtanka Raion, Kryvyi Rih metropolitan area, Ukraine. It hosts the administration of Novyi Buh urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Population: In 2001, population was 16,250. The Inhul River Park partly falls within the town. History Until 18 July 2020, Novyi Buh was the administrative center of Novyi Buh Raion. In July 2020, as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Mykolaiv Oblast to four, Novyi Buh Raion was merged into Bashtanka Raion. The city was not greatly affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Southern Bug
The Southern Bug, also called Southern Buh (; ; ; or just ), and sometimes Boh River (; ), at the Encyclopedia of Ukraine is a navigable river located in Ukraine. It is the List of longest rivers of Ukraine, second-longest river flowing exclusively in Ukraine. While located in relatively close proximity, the river should not be confused with Western Bug or Bug which flows in opposite direction towards Baltics. The source of the Southern Bug is in the west of Ukraine, in the Volhynian-Podolian Upland, about from the Polish border, from where it flows southeasterly into the Bug Estuary (Black Sea basin) through the southern steppes (see Granite-steppe lands of Buh park). Buh Cossacks
The Bug Cossack Host (; ) was a Cossack host and irregular army within Tsarist Russia, which used to be located along the Southern Buh River. The 2nd Bug Regiment was led by Ataman Pyotr Mikhailovich Skarzhinsky. The 1st regiment was commanded by Ivan Kasperov. In 1788, the two regiments merged into one Bug Cossack (1500 cavalry). The combined regiment was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Pytor Mikhailovich Skarzhinsky, who would become the first ataman of the Bug Cossack army. The Bug Cossack Host was formed in 1769 out of Ukrainians, Vlachs, and Bulgarians, who had taken the side of Russia during the Russo-Turkish War of 1768-1774. After the war, the regiment was quartered on the Southern Buh River. In 1788, the Bug Cossack Host became a part of the Yekaterinoslav Cossack Host (disbanded in 1796) and protected the border. Buh Township is a township in Morrison County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 572 at the 2000 census. History Buh Township was organized in 1894, and named for Joseph Francis Buh, a Roman Catholic priest who worked in the area. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , of which is land and (0.14%) is water. Demographics There were 179 households, out of which 45.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.5% were married couples living together, 4.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.7% were non-families. 17.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. Saad Buh
Sheikh Saad Buh ({{Langx, ar, الشيخ سعد بوه) was a Moorish, Qadiriyyah, Fadiliyya Sufi from Mauritania. Buh, who settled in Trarza in the 1870s, developed a following in St. Louis, and began a pattern of visits to the peanut basin and river valley. In the late 1860s, before he was 20, Buh established ties with the French administration who were at the time trying to conquer the Senegalo-Mauritanian zone, and became involved in a network of teachers, schools and zawiyas (lodges) across the Sahel and Sahara. Buh several times saved French explorers from local bands. He rescued Paul Soleillet, Blanchet and Fabert. Soleillet was rescued from a local band that pillaged his possessions. Saad Buh had ties with the French for more than 50 years. He went on diplomatic missions for them- such as trying to convince Lat-Dior to let the French build their railway, or to dissuade Ma Ba from warring with the French.
