Buffy or Buffie is a pet form of the female given name Elizabeth that is also in use as an independent name. It originated from a small child's lisping attempts to pronounce Elizabeth. Usage The name ranked among the top 1,000 names for newborn American girls between 1967 and 1977. Its popularity coincided with the 1966 to 1971 air dates of the American television series '' Family Affair'', in which child actress Anissa Jones played a character named Buffy. The name later became associated with the character Buffy Summers on the 1990s American television series ''Buffy the Vampire Slayer''. The name is still in occasional use. Mary Anissa Jones (March 11, 1958 – August 28, 1976) was an American child actress known for her role as Buffy Davis on the CBS sitcom ''Family Affair'', which ran from 1966 to 1971. She died from combined drug intoxication at the age of 18. Early life Jones was born in West Lafayette, Indiana in 1958 and was raised in Charleston, West Virginia until the age of 5. Her maternal grandparents were Lebanese, and Jones' middle name means "Little Friend" in Arabic. Her parents were divorced prior to the start of her acting career in 1965. Darren Robinson (rapper)
Darren Robinson (June 10, 1967 – December 10, 1995), also known as Big Buff, Buff Love, Buffy, The Human Beat Box, The Ox That Rocks, and DJ Doctor Nice (among other aliases), was a rapper, beatboxer, and actor who was a member of the 1980s hip hop group The Fat Boys. He, along with Doug E. Fresh and others, were pioneers of beatboxing, a form of vocal percussion used in many rap groups throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Career Robinson and the Fat Boys were featured in the 1985 movie ''Krush Groove''. ''Motley's Crew'' was an American newspaper comic strip by Ben Templeton and Tom Forman with satirical social commentary. With readership spread among 250 newspapers in the United States alone, the comic strip acquired a highly devoted but relatively small group of fans during its 23 years of operation. The comic strip, in general, was about a blue-collar worker named Mike Motley and his wife Mabel Motley. Truman Motley (Mike and Mabel's son) eventually fell in love and married a woman named Tacoma. From that marriage came two sons. Mabel's older brother Abel was often collaborating with his wife Buffy. Madtown (), often stylized as MADTOWN, was a South Korean boy band formed in 2014 by J. Tune Camp. The group consisted of Moos, Daewon, Lee Geon, Lee Jong-hwa (actor), Jota, Heo Jun, Buffy and H.O. Their debut album, ''Mad Town (EP), Mad Town'', was released on October 6, 2014. Two of the members, Moos and Buffy, originally debuted as the hip hop duo ''Pro C'' in 2013. Elizabeth Williams (Rhondda Politician)
Elizabeth "Buffy" Williams (born 1 November 1976) is a Welsh politician who is the Labour Member of the Senedd for Rhondda. She won the seat from former Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood in the 2021 Senedd election. Early life and career Williams was born and brought up in the Rhondda community of Williamstown, Rhondda Cynon Taf, the daughter of a trade union activist. She left school at the age of sixteen to work in a factory, but continued studying.
