Bud Black
Harry Ralston "Bud" Black (born June 30, 1957) is an American professional baseball manager and pitcher who most recently served as manager of the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played in MLB from 1981 through 1995, most notably for the Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Indians. He coached the Anaheim Angels / Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim from 2000 through 2006 and managed the San Diego Padres from 2007 through 2015. He was named the National League Manager of the Year in 2010. Early life Black is a graduate of Mark Morris High School in Longview, Washington. He initially attended Lower Columbia College and pitched for the school's baseball team. He was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the third round of the 1977 January amateur draft and again in the second round of the 1977 June amateur draft by the New York Mets, but he did not sign with either team. In baseball, the field manager (commonly referred to as the manager) is the equivalent of a head coach who is responsible for overseeing and making final decisions on all aspects of on-field team strategy, lineup selection, training and instruction. The California League is a Minor League Baseball league that operates in California. Having been classified at various levels throughout its existence, it operated at Class A-Advanced from 1990 until its demotion to Single-A following Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. San Jose Missions
The San Jose Missions were a minor league baseball team located in San Jose, California. The Missions played from 1977 to 1978 as members of the AAA Pacific Coast League. The Missions name returned in 1979 under a new franchise that played in the Class A-Advanced California League. In 1982, with a new affiliation, the club was renamed the San Jose Expos. Mark Morris High School is a public high school in Longview, Washington, United States, for grades nine through twelve. In 2013, it had an enrollment of 976 students. A part of Longview Public Schools, the school was built in 1957 and is named for Samuel Mark Morris, the third president of the Long-Bell Lumber Company. The school has a partially open campus.
