Buckshot Hoffner
Sebastian Fabian "Buckshot" Hoffner (January 20, 1924 – December 17, 2015) was an American politician who was a member of the North Dakota House of Representatives and North Dakota Senate for 18 years in total, amid unsuccessful runs for state-wide office and serving as chairman of the Nonpartisan League. Born and raised in Esmond, North Dakota, Esmond, North Dakota, Hoffner's early life was marked by service to his country as a World War II veteran. North Dakota Senate
The North Dakota State Senate is the upper house of the North Dakota Legislative Assembly, smaller than the North Dakota House of Representatives. Per the state constitution, North Dakota is divided into between 40 and 54 legislative districts apportioned by population as determined by the decennial census. The 2000 redistricting plan provided for 47 districts, with one senator elected from each district. Senators serve four-year terms. Elections are staggered such that half the senate districts have elections every two years. In the 2022 North Dakota elections, a ballot measure passed with 63.4% of the vote creating term limits of eight years in the North Dakota Senate, which was put into effect starting January 2023. Mark Andrews II (May 19, 1926 – October 3, 2020) was an American politician from the state of North Dakota. He was a member of the Republican Party who served in both chambers of the United States Congress, the United States House of Representatives from 1963 to 1981 and the United States Senate from 1981 to 1987. Life and career Andrews was born on May 19, 1926 in Cass County, North Dakota to Mark Andrews I and the former Lillian Hoyler, where he attended public school. In 1944 at the age of 18, Andrews was admitted to the United States Military Academy. He quit in 1946 after receiving a disability discharge. He then attended North Dakota State University at Fargo, North Dakota, where he became a member of the Gamma Tau chapter of the Sigma Chi fraternity, and graduated in 1949. In the U.S. state of North Dakota, the agriculture commissioner, formerly known as the commissioner of agriculture, is an elected official who heads the North Dakota Department of Agriculture. The present commissioner is Doug Goehring, a Republican.
