Buchloe Centre
Buchloe (; Swabian: ''Buechla'') is a community raised to town status in 1954, lying in Ostallgäu district in Bavaria. Together with the neighbouring communities of Jengen, Lamerdingen and Waal, Buchloe belongs to the ''Verwaltungsgemeinschaft'' ("administrative community") of Buchloe. Geography and transport Buchloe lies right on Bundesautobahn 96 (Munich–Buchloe–Memmingen–Lindau) with interchanges with ''Bundesstraße'' ("Federal Highway") 12 (Lindau by way of Munich and Passau to Philippsreut) and describes itself as the "Gateway to the Allgäu". Buchloe station is an important railway hub for traffic on the Munich–Kempten–Lindau route on the Munich–Buchloe and the Buchloe–Lindau lines (KBS 970) and on the Augsburg–Buchloe and the Buchloe–Memmingen lines with their IC services and direct services into Switzerland by EuroCity-Express. Augsburg–Buchloe Railway
The Augsburg–Buchloe railway is a double-track main line in the German state of Bavaria. It runs from Augsburg to Buchloe. Other major towns on the route are Bobingen and Schwabmünchen. It was built as part of the Ludwig South-North Railway, one of the oldest lines in Germany. History The construction of the 60.2 km long line from Augsburg Hauptbahnhof via Bobingen and Buchloe to Kaufbeuren was authorised by a Bavarian law of 25 August 1843 and opened on 1 September 1847. The 20.3 km long section from Buchloe to Kaufbeuren is now considered part of the Buchloe–Lindau railway. Erwin Neher
Erwin Neher (; ; born 20 March 1944) is a German biophysicist, specializing in the field of cell physiology. For significant contribution in the field, in 1991 he was awarded, along with Bert Sakmann, the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for "their discoveries concerning the function of single ion channels in cells". Early life and education Neher was born in Landsberg am Lech, Upper Bavaria, the son of Elisabeth (née Pfeiffer), a teacher, and Franz Xaver Neher, an executive at a dairy company. He studied physics at the Technical University of Munich from 1963 to 1966. In 1966, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study in the US. Bertram Meier (born July 20 1960 in Buchloe, Bavaria) is a German prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as bishop of Roman Catholic Diocese of Augsburg since 2020. Thomas Holzmann (born July 17, 1987) is a German professional ice hockey forward who currently plays for EV Landshut of the DEL2. Playing career Holzmann began his career as a junior in the ESV Kaufbueren organization. He made his DEL debut with the Hannover Scorpions before joining and breaking out with 26 points in 50 games with the Kassel Huskies in the 2009–10 season. EuroCity Express, or short ECE, is a category of Eurocity train marketed by Deutsche Bahn that runs on two routes as of 2021. It was created to classify a newly introduced international high speed train service in a higher category - equivalent to the Intercity-Express - than the existing Eurocity, which is equivalent to the "second tier" domestic Intercity.
