Bucak (administrative Unit)
Bucak (also known as nahiye) is the Turkish word for subdistrict, literally meaning "corner." In principle, all Turkish provinces ( tr, il) are divided into districts ( tr, ilçe), and the districts were then divided into bucaks. Thus, bucak was the third-level administrative unit in Turkey. Despite this designation, about half the districts had no bucaks. For example, in Konya Province (the province with the highest number of settlements), among the 31 districts, only 15 districts had bucaks, and the total number of bucaks was 23. However, there was only one bucak in Yalova Province. The total number of bucaks in Turkey was 634. Villages ( tr, köy) are parts of the districts or bucaks. Bucaks were important part of the Turkish administrative system prior to 1970, but since transportation facilities to villages were improved, the importance of bucaks declined. Bucak, Burdur
Bucak (literally "sheltered nook" or "corner" in Turkish) is a district and the biggest town of Burdur Province, Turkey. The town's population was 35,621 at the 2007 census. It was formerly named "Oğuzhan"; the name was changed on 30 May 1926. It is said that the name Oğuzhan came from the Oghuz Turks who settled in this town. Bucak has good connections to other parts of Turkey. Antalya lies 75 km to the south, Isparta 70 km to northeast and Burdur 40 km to the northwest. Neighbouring towns include Çeltikçi and Ağlasun to the north and Kemer to the west. A few historic buildings and houses remain, but most of the buildings are modern. Sedat Bucak
Sedat Edip Bucak (born 31 October 1960 in Siverek) is a Zaza politician and the leader of the Bucak tribe in Siverek, Şanlıurfa Province, Turkey. In the 1990s, he was a member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. He survived the 1996 Susurluk car crash which led to the Susurluk scandal over links between police, politicians, the Turkish mafia and the Grey Wolves. In 2004 he was convicted of involvement in the Susurluk criminal gang, overturning a previous acquittal. Life He was born in Siverek in 1960. His father is İsmail Hakkı.
