Bryn Bach Park
Parc Bryn Bach (also known as Bryn Bach Park) is a country park, nature reserve and recreation ground, recreational ground located in Blaenau Gwent, situated on the outskirts of Tredegar in the South Wales Valleys. The site covers of Mine reclamation, reclaimed industrial mining land and is home to a recreational lake, adventure park, a driving range, golf course, a campsite and bunk house. The site is owned by Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council and managed by the Aneurin Leisure Trust. History Parc Bryn Bach is located on the site of a former iron ore ''"patch"'' mine, a type of Open-pit mining where small areas are excavated close to the surface to extract ore. The first recorded excavation took place in 1747 and grew over the next three centuries expanding with the opening of Tredegar Iron and Coal Company#Sirhowy Ironworks, Sirhowy Ironworks in 1778 and Tredegar Iron and Coal Company, Tredegar Ironworks in 1800. Meadow
A meadow ( ) is an open habitat or field, vegetated by grasses, herbs, and other non- woody plants. Trees or shrubs may sparsely populate meadows, as long as they maintain an open character. Meadows can occur naturally under favourable conditions but are often artificially created from cleared shrub or woodland for the production of hay, fodder or livestock. Meadow habitats as a group are characterized as semi-natural grasslands, meaning that they are largely composed of species native to the region, with only limited human intervention. Meadows attract a multitude of wildlife and support flora and fauna that could not thrive in other habitats. They are ecologically important since they provide areas for animal courtship displays, nesting, food gathering, pollinating insects, and sometimes sheltering if the vegetation is high enough.
