Brymo Albums
Ọlawale Ọlọfọrọ (born Olawale Ibrahim Ashimi; 9 May 1986), better known as Brymo, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, sonic artist, actor and author who was born and raised in Okokomaiko. Brymo started recording music in 1999 while in secondary school, and released his debut studio album ''Brymstone'' in 2007. He signed a recording contract with music label Chocolate City in 2010 but was accused of breaching his contract in 2013. Brymo's second studio album ''The Son of a Kapenta'' was released in 2012, and was supported by the singles "Ara", "Good Morning" and "Go Hard". His third studio album '' Merchants, Dealers & Slaves'', which was released on 20 October 2013, received positive reviews from music critics and yielded the singles "Down" and "Eko". In October 2014, Brymo released his fourth studio album ''Tabula Rasa''; its lead single "Fe Mi" was described as a "soft traditional ballad". Okokomaiko
Okokomaiko is an area in the town of Ojo, located in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, along the Lagos- Badagry Expressway. The Lagos State government, under the leadership of the former governor Akinwunmi Ambode stretched the importance of this route in the West African sub-region and had plans to expand the Lagos-Badagry Expressway to a 10-lane highway. This construction began from Eric Moore to Okokomaiko. Ambode, during his tenure as the governor, welcomed any investor who is willing to partner with the state government in the construction of the mile-2 to Badagry road project, which includes the Okokomaiko area. He said “At the moment, work is already ongoing from Eric More to Okokomaiko but we are willing to partner with any investor interested in taking up the construction of the second phase which is ten-lane road from Okokomaiko to Seme Border". Oṣó
''Oṣó'' (Yoruba: ''The Wizard'') is the sixth studio album by Nigerian singer Brymo. It was released independently on 27 March 2018. The album was produced entirely by Mikky Me Joses and consists of 11 tracks, including three recorded in the Yoruba language. ''Oṣó'' is a mixture of Alternative folk and Yoruba music and has elements of mysticism; it sheds light on Brymo's folk and traditional roots. ''Oṣó'' was supported by the singles "Heya!" and "Bá’núsọ". It received critical acclaim from music critics, who complimented its production and Brymo's songwriting. The website Pulse Nigeria and ''Nigerian Entertainment Today'' ranked ''Oṣó'' second on their list of the best Nigerian albums of 2018. Ogu People
The Gun people, also rendered Ogũ, Ogun and Egun, is an ethnic group principally found in Lagos and Ogun State regions of southwestern Nigeria, and Ouémé Department in the southeast of the Republic of Benin, who speak the Gun language. The Ogu account for about 15% of the indigenous population of Lagos State and 6% of the total population of the Republic of Benin, although their parental ethnic group Fon is the majority in Benin Republic. Nigerian Pidgin, also known simply as Pidgin or as Naijá in scholarship, is an English-based creole language spoken as a ''lingua franca'' across Nigeria. The language is sometimes referred to as ''Pijin'' or ''Vernacular''. Coming into existence during the 17th and 18th centuries as a result of contact between Britons and Africans involved in the Atlantic slave trade, in the 2010s, a common orthography was developed for Pidgin which has been gaining significant popularity in giving the language a harmonized writing system. ''Theta'' is the tenth studio album by Nigerian singer Brymo, independently released on May 27, 2022. The album comprises ten tracks and was recorded entirely in Nigerian Pidgin. Labeled a folk, sentimental ballad, and quiet storm record, ''Theta'' explores themes of survival, prudence, sexual violence, abuse, hypocrisy, communal violence, and love. Harmattan & Winter
The Harmattan is a season in West Africa that occurs between the end of November and the middle of March. It is characterized by the dry and dusty northeasterly trade wind, of the same name, which blows from the Sahara over West Africa into the Gulf of Guinea. The name is related to the word in the Twi language. The temperature is cold mostly at night in some places but can be very hot in certain places during daytime. Generally, temperature differences can also depend on local circumstances. The Harmattan blows during the dry season, which occurs during the months with the lowest sun. In this season, the subtropical ridge of high pressure stays over the central Sahara and the low-pressure Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) stays over the Gulf of Guinea. ''Libel'' is the debut extended play by Nigerian singer Brymo, independently released on November 5, 2020. A follow-up to his seventh studio album ''Yellow'', the EP comprises five tracks and features guest vocals by Deborah Prest. All of the songs on ''Libel'' were produced and mastered entirely by Bigfoot. The lyrics address the rape accusation leveled against Brymo by a woman on social media. ''Libel'' was supported by the single "Messiah Complexes". Background A few weeks after releasing his seventh studio album, ''Yellow'', a woman on Twitter accused Brymo of raping her. The Headies 2020 was the 14th edition of The Headies, a Nigerian music awards show held to recognize outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry. The ceremony took place on February 21, 2021, due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic instead of December 2020, the usual month for the awards.
