Duane B. "Dick" Bryers (July 2, 1911 – May 30, 2012, Tucson, Arizona) was an American painter, illustrator, and sculptor. In the 21st century, Bryers was rediscovered as the creator of the unconventionally plump pinup girl Hilda, who appeared in calendars from the mid-1950s to 1980s. Life Duane Bryers was born to Samuel Edward Bryers (1877-1965) and his wife Winifred "Winnie" Dawn Bryers, née Myers (1883-1956). He had three brothers and two sisters. He initially spent his childhood on his parents' farm in Upper Peninsula of Michigan. When he was twelve, the family moved to Virginia, Minnesota, where he lived until 1939. He then had studios in Chicago and New York City. After World War II he married Phyllis D. McFarland, with whom he had a son and two daughters. From 1959 he lived on a ranch near Tucson, Arizona. Paul Bryers (born 1 August 1955 in Liverpool) is a British film director, screenwriter and fiction author. Biography Paul Bryers studied Modern history, politics and economy at the University of Southampton. Later he joined the Daily Mirror’s training scheme for journalists. He worked there for two years, and then became a reporter and presenter for the British commercial television station Southern ITV. Later he became producer and director, covering conflicts in Africa, the Middle East and South America. Film, television and radio After his career as a reporter, Paul Bryers became especially known for his documentaries and docudramas for the television channels BBC Two, Channel 4, Channel 5 and PBS. He wrote the radio play, ''The Floating Republic'', about the Nore Mutiny for BBC Radio 4 which was broadcast on Saturday 4th December 1982 and starred Brian Cox as the mutineer Richard Parker. Rhonda Bryers
Rhonda Bryers (1952-2007) was a New Zealand singer of Maori descent. At one stage she was regarded as New Zealand's top entertainer. Background Bryers was born in Taumarunui to famous Maori rugby player Ron Bryers and Betty. Her first husband was professional wrestler Jock Ruddock. She achieved a similar level of popularity as Sir Howard Morrison, John Rowles and Frankie Stevens. She died in Honolulu in September 2007 of a suspected heart attack. At the time she was suffering from a flu related virus. She was aged 55. Breyers is a brand of ice cream started in 1866 by William A. Breyer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. History In 1866, William A. Breyer began to produce and sell iced cream in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, first from his home, and later via horse and wagon on the streets. Breyer's son Henry incorporated the business in 1908. The formerly independent Breyer Ice Cream Company was sold to the National Dairy Products Corporation/ Sealtest in 1926. National Dairy then changed its name to Kraftco in 1968, and Kraft by 1975. Kraft sold its ice cream brands to Unilever in 1993, while retaining the rights to the name for yogurt products.
