Bryan Smeets
Bryan George Jeffrey Smeets (born 22 November 1992) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for club MVV. Club career He formerly played for MVV Maastricht, De Graafschap and SC Cambuur. He is best known the myth of Bryan scoring the equalizer against Ajax in 2016, which dramatically decided the winner of the Eredivisie title to be PSV Eindhoven. On 1 February 2022, Smeets signed with Lommel in Belgium. Only months later, on 18 May 2022, Smeets was announced as the first signing ahead of the 2022–23 season for RWDM. He signed a two-year deal with an option for an additional year. In December 2022, he was told by club management that he was unwanted and could leave. In April 2023, he started practicing with his former club De Graafschap. On 30 June 2023, it was announced that Smeets had returned to his first professional club MVV on a three-year contract. 2009–10 Eerste Divisie
The Eerste Divisie 2009–10 was the 54th season of the Eerste Divisie since its establishment in 1956. The previous year's winners were VVV-Venlo; they, with runner-up RKC Waalwijk, after a promotion/relegation playoff win over De Graafschap, were promoted to the Eredivisie. Twenty teams took part: eighteen from the 2008–2009 season and relegated teams FC Volendam and De Graafschap. The season's champion was promoted to the Eredivisie, while eight other teams, the second- through fifth-place finishers and period winners, faced the Eredivisie's sixteenth- and seventeenth-place finishers in promotion/relegation playoffs. For the first time since 1971, Eerste Divisie clubs also faced relegation; the last- and second-to-last-place teams were relegated to the new Topklasse, in which the best teams from Dutch amateur football play. The COVID-19 pandemic in the Netherlands has resulted in confirmed cases of COVID-19 and deaths. The virus reached the Netherlands on 27 February 2020, when its first COVID-19 case was confirmed in Tilburg. It involved a 56-year-old Dutchman who had arrived in the Netherlands from Italy.
