Bryan Gee
V Recordings is a drum and bass record label, based in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 1993 by Bryan Gee and Jumpin Jack Frost. History Founded in 1993 through the friendship of Bryan Gee and Jumpin Jack Frost, V Recordings is one of the longest-running drum and bass labels and has launched the recording careers of the likes of Roni Size, Krust, and DJ Die. Gee, originally from Gloucester, was particularly excited by the " Bristol Sound" and working as A&R at a record label at the time, heard some of Roni Size and Krust's early material. Gee and Frost would make the trip to Bristol and decide to set up the label shortly after in order to release some of their music. The label has released classics of the genre such as "Set Speed" by Krust, "Fresh" by Roni Size, and "Brand New Funk" by Adam F. Linden Reeves, better known as Stamina MC, is an English drum and bass rapper and singer. Biography His earliest experiences of MCing were on pirate radio in 1996; first Pressure FM (inactive), then on to currently active, once-pirate-but-no-longer station Rinse FM. In 2000, he met DJ Marky, DJ Patife and XRS Land, through being given a trial opportunity to perform at Movement, a weekly drum & bass event in London. He is best known for providing vocals for two successful Drum & Bass tracks entitled " LK" by DJ Marky and XRS Land (released 8 July 2002 on V Recordings) and "Barcelona" by D. Ray Keith is a British drum and bass DJ and record producer. He is one of the genre's most well known producers and DJs and is regarded as one of the pivotal figures in the early jungle/drum and bass scene. Biography Keith cites influences including underground hip-hop music; electronic acts like Depeche Mode, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and Gary Numan; and techno artists such as Derrick May, Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson. Paul Pesce (born 18 December 1970), better known as Peshay, is a British drum and bass and electronic music producer and DJ. Early life Peshay is of British and Italian heritage. His first introduction to music was at an early age through his mother who was a well regarded classical singer. Clifford Joseph Price MBE (born 19 September 1965), better known as Goldie, is an English music producer, DJ, and actor. Initially gaining exposure for his work as a graffiti artist, Goldie became well known for his pioneering role as a musician in the 1990s UK jungle, drum and bass and breakbeat hardcore scenes. He released a variety of singles under the pseudonym Rufige Kru and co-founded the label Metalheadz. Ben Settle, known by the stage name Ed Rush, is a drum and bass producer and DJ. Rush has been releasing records since 1992 primarily with Optical (Matt Quinn), his musical partner since 1997. Along with Optical, he is also the co-founder of the record label Virus Recordings, which releases his records along with other drum and bass acts. He is most associated with the aggressive styles of drum and bass music known as techstep, darkcore and neurofunk. Early career Rush's first releases were a pair of self-released white label 12" singles, the Prince Jammy-sampling "I Wanna Stay in the Jungle" and "Look What They've Done" in late 1992. Wagner Ribeiro de Souza (born September 15, 1976), better known by his stage name DJ Patife, is a prominent Brazilian drum and bass DJ. DJ Patife's first gig was at São Paulo's Arena Music Hall. In 1997, he accompanied Roni Size in the delivery of the Mercury Prize. Patife released his first album in 2000, Sounds of Drum'n'bass. The album was praised by English magazines Muzik and Mixmag,. In 2000, Patife, Marky, and the Drumagick duo played for 5,000 people in São Paulo. Karl Nicholas Francis, also known as Dillinja, is a British jungle/drum and bass DJ and record producer. Biography Dillinja is a prolific producer and artist within the jungle and drum and bass scene. Since 1991, Dillinja has produced a number of tracks under both that and other aliases such as Suburban Knight, Cybotron, Trinity, Capone, Basic Influence, and The Specialist.
