Brussels Tram Route 3
The Brussels premetro, premetro and tram route 3 in Brussels, Belgium, was operated by Brussels Intercommunal Transport Company, STIB/MIVB, and connected the Esplanade stop (on the borders of Neder-Over-Heembeek in Laeken in the City of Brussels and Strombeek-Bever) with the Churchill (tram stop), Churchill stop in the southern municipality of Uccle. The line was named after the planned Brussels Metro line 3, Metro line 3, which is set to service most of the former route of tram line 3. The colour of the signage for this line was lime-green. On 23 September 2024, the line was permanently disbanded, with most of its route being taken over by the new Brussels tram route 10, line 10. Neder-Over-Heembeek
Neder-Over-Heembeek (; ) is a former municipality of Brussels, Belgium, that was merged into the City of Brussels in 1921. Nowadays, it is a northern section of that municipality, and a predominantly industrial zone, especially known for the Queen Astrid Military Hospital, which is the National Burns and Poisons Centre. The premetro and tram route 7 in Brussels, Belgium, is operated by STIB/MIVB, and connects the Vanderkindere stop in the southern municipality of Uccle to the Heysel/Heizel stop in Laeken in the City of Brussels, where connecting services of tram route 51, Metro line 6, as well as bus routes 84 and 88 depart. Brussels Tram Route 55
The tram route 55 in Brussels, Belgium, is operated by STIB/MIVB, and connects Bordet railway station in the municipality of Evere, north-east of Brussels, to Rogier metro station in the City of Brussels. The route also crosses the municipalities of Saint-Josse and Schaerbeek. The route was cut in the 2000s with STIB/MIVB willing to reduce the number of tram routes riding in the North–South Axis. A low-floor tram is a tram that has no steps between one or more entrances and part or all of the passenger cabin. The low-floor design improves the accessibility of the tram for the public, and also may provide larger windows and more airspace. The Pentagon (; ) or Brussels' city centre is the historical city centre of Brussels, Belgium, within the contours of the Small Ring inner ring road. The Small Ring is located on the site of the second walls of Brussels, which were built in the 16th century. As in most European cities, these walls were replaced by large boulevards at the end of the 19th century. Line 3 is a planned expansion of the Brussels Metro, running from Albert premetro station, Albert, through the existing ''Trams in Brussels, premetro'' (underground tram) tunnel, and eventually terminating at Bordet railway station, Bordet. , it is under construction.
