PowerPC Reference Platform (PReP) was a standard system architecture for PowerPC-based computer systems (as well as a reference implementation) developed at the same time as the PowerPC processor architecture. Published by IBM in 1994, it allowed hardware vendors to build a machine that could run various operating systems, including Windows NT, OS/2, Solaris, Taligent and AIX. Lover's Oak
The Lover's Oak is a notably historic and large Southern live oak tree in Brunswick, Georgia. Located in the Brunswick Old Town Historic District, the tree is reportedly over 900 years old. The tree has a trunk diameter of and has 10 main limbs. History The tree is estimated to be from the 12th century AD, with an age of approximately 900 years. The tree's name stems from a Native Americans in the United States, Native American legend alleging the tree as the meeting place between young lovers. The location of the tree is just south of the intersection of Prince Street and Albany Street, placing it in the Brunswick Old Town Historic District. It is actually in the middle of Albany Street. In 1987, the National Arborist Association erected a plaque near the tree, recognizing that the tree had been standing since the signing of the United States Constitution 200 years earlier in 1787. The Old Glynn County Courthouse, also known as the Historic Brunswick Courthouse, is a historic courthouse in Brunswick, Georgia. The building, designed by architect Charles Alling Gifford, was constructed between 1906 and 1907. The building is a contributing property to the Brunswick Old Town Historic District. History Background There is evidence of a courthouse building constructed in Brunswick, Georgia some time before 1829, and while the ultimate fate of this building is unknown, it most likely burned down. Following this, court activities were held in rented spaces until 1884, when a wooden courthouse was constructed. The building's construction coincided with a growth in activity of the Port of Brunswick, and several years later, in 1892, a new city hall building designed by Alfred Eichberg was constructed. The Ritz Theatre is a historic theater in Brunswick, Georgia. Built in 1899, it originally served as an opera house, but was later converted to a movie palace. The building is currently owned by the city of Brunswick and is a contributing property of the Brunswick Old Town Historic District. History The Grand Opera House was built in 1899 as the main opera house in Brunswick, Georgia. Plans for the construction of the building had been in place since 1895, and the building served as a replacement for the L'Arioso Opera House, which had been destroyed by a storm in 1896. In addition to the theater, the building housed several retailers on its first floor, and the second and third floors served as the general offices of the Brunswick and Birmingham Railroad.
