Bruno Lukk
Bruno Lukk (30 June 1909 Chusovoy, Perm Governorate – 31 May 1991 Tallinn) was an Estonian pianist and pedagogue. He was one of the most notable piano pedagogue in Estonia. In 1913 his family moved to Estonia. In 1928 he graduated from Riga Conservatory. In 1940 to 1991 he taught in Tallinn Conservatory The Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (''Eesti Muusika- ja Teatriakadeemia'') began as a mixed choir of the Estonia Society Musical Department (EMD) on the eve of World War I. The assembly of the Estonia Society created the Tallinn Higher Musi .... From 1948 to 1951 he was the director of the conservatory. Besides teaching, he also gave solo and duo concerts. Over 40 years he did collaboration (as a piano duo) with pianist Anna Klas. Chusovoy
Chusovoy (; : ) is a town in Perm Krai, Russia, located at the confluence of the Usva and Vilva Rivers with the Chusovaya River, east of Perm, the administrative center of the krai. The Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (''Eesti Muusika- ja Teatriakadeemia'') began as a mixed choir of the Estonia Society Musical Department (EMD) on the eve of World War I. The assembly of the Estonia Society created the Tallinn Higher Music School on November 17, 1918. The opening ceremony took place on September 28, 1919. In 1923 the educational institution was renamed the Tallinn Conservatoire. In 1938 the State Drama School was opened. In 1993 the school was renamed the Estonian Academy of Music. In 1995 the Drama Faculty was renamed the Higher Theatre School. Anna Klas
Anna Klas (born Anna Gurevitš; 23 January 1912 – 20 April 1999) was an Estonian pianist and pedagogue. Anna Klas was born in Riga into a Jewish family. Since on the second half of 1930s, she started her solo career. Famous was her duo with Bruno Lukk. This collaboration started in 1940s and lasted over 40 years. She was also a pedagogue. Since 1940 she taught at the Tallinn Conservatory. Students included: Toivo Peäske, Laine Mets, Virve Lippus, Ada Kuuseoks, Vilma Mallene, Viiva Väinmaa, Valdur Roots, Helju Agur, Aime Karm and others. From 1944 until 1959, she taught at the Tallinn State Music School (an associate professor since 1946). From 1966 until 1979, she was a lecturer at the Riga Conservatory in Latvia. In 1938, she married Eduard Klas. Their son was conductor Eri Klas. In 1941, after the occupation of Estonia by German troops, Eduard Klas was arrested and executed due to his Jewish origins.
