Bruno Girard
Bruno Girard (born November 25, 1970) was a French professional boxer who competed in the super middleweight and light heavyweight divisions, he held the World Boxing Association, WBA title in both divisions. Professional boxing career The light-hitting Girard turned pro in 1991 and challenged Byron Mitchell for World Boxing Association, WBA and Lineal Super Middleweight Titles in 1999, in his first US fight. The fight was a draw, and in the rematch in 2000 Girard won a unanimous decision to win the titles. Girard defended the belt once against Manny Siaca and then was stripped of the title for declining a rematch. In late 2001 he moved up to light heavyweight and took on southpaw Lou Del Valle for the Vacant WBA Light Heavyweight Title and drew with him. Later that year, he took on Robert Koon for the Vacant belt, and won via TKO. He defended the belt twice including a rematch with Del Valle, before losing to Mehdi Sahnoune via 7th-round TKO in 2003. Harrah's Casino Tunica, formerly Grand Casino Tunica, was a casino and resort located in Tunica Resorts, Mississippi. It was owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment. The casino offered a casino and three hotels with a total of 1,356 rooms. There was also an RV park, the Bellissimo Spa & Salon, a convention center, The Willows sporting clays shotgun club, and a 2,500 seat entertainment venue called the Harrah's Event Center. Citing steadily declining business rates in its last few years, Caesars announced the closure of Harrah's Casino Tunica, along with its hotels, golf course, and events center in March 2014. Dean Francis
Dean Temius Francis (23 January 1974 – 25 May 2018) was a British professional boxer who competed from 1994 to 2014. He held the British Boxing Board of Control, British super middleweight title from 1997 to 1998; the European Boxing Union, EBU European super middleweight title in 1997; the Commonwealth light heavyweight title from 2007 to 2008; and the British light heavyweight title in 2008. Following a debilitating shoulder injury in 1998, Francis broke off his career, returning in 2002 and continuing to box until 2014. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer of the bowel in January 2017, and fought a sixteen month battle, before his death from the disease on 25 May 2018. He was 44 years old. Tributes paid by boxing promoters Barry Hearn and Eddie Hearn, as well as former world champions Tony Bellew and Anthony Crolla. He was nicknamed "Star".
