Bruni Vélez
Bruni Vélez Ramirez (March 27, 1951 – August 19, 2006) was a Puerto Rican television reporter. She was an anchorwoman on Puerto Rico's Telemundo Internacional, Channel 2's television show, "Telenoticias en Accion". She shared anchoring responsibilities at that show with Anibal Gonzalez Irizarry. Career in television She worked as a television journalist for more than 20 years. One of the first women to serve as an anchor for a national news program. She also stood out as a radio broadcaster after acquiring the Station WXLX in Lajas, Puerto Rico. Personal Velez was the sister of international singing star Wilkins (singer), Wilkins, who became the Muscular Dystrophy Association, MDA's ALS spokesman in Puerto Rico after she died of the disease in 2006. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as motor neuron disease (MND) or—in the United States—Lou Gehrig's disease (LGD), is a rare, terminal neurodegenerative disorder that results in the progressive loss of both upper and lower motor neurons that normally control voluntary muscle contraction. Conjunto Quisqueya
Conjunto Quisqueya is a Merengue musical band from the Dominican Republic. Active since 1972, the band has released several albums and reached international fame. Beginnings The band was formed in the early 1970s by two University of Puerto Rico students, the Dominican Republic citizens Aneudy Diaz and Adib Melgen. They were later joined by Javich Victoria and Chuky Acosta, to form the foursome that would make the group famous. The group of friends created the band at first to meet women and be able to get (alcoholic) drinks, according to Melgen. The group debuted during 1972, at first appearing at the "Show de las 12" television show in Puerto Rico's canal 2. Wilkins (singer)
Wilkins (born March 10, 1953) is a Puerto Rican pop music singer and composer. Early years Wilkins (birth name: Germán Wilkins Vélez Ramírez was born in the city of Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, but raised in Mexico City, Mexico. His father, Germán Vélez Forestier, was a radio announcer and part-time singer (he was Mon Rivera's singing partner at the beginning of Mon's career in El Duo Huasteca). As a child, Wilkins enjoyed putting on a "show" for his loved ones, which included his sister Bruni Vélez, who would later become a newscaster and TV journalist in Puerto Rico.
