Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association
The Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (; abbrev: PPNBD) is the national Scouting and oldest non-governmental organisation in the country, established in 1933. It became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) in 1981. The association celebrate its founding on 1 July each year. History In 1933, Marsal Maun, a teacher at Jalan Pemancha Malay School, Brunei Town (now Bandar Seri Begawan), founded PPNBD. At that time, the scout group consisted of only 12 boys. A Sarawak officer, Abang Mohd Zaidi Abang Taha, who was the headmaster and also the education supervisor, served as the leader, while Marsal acted as the assistant leader, marking the beginning of the Scout Movement in Brunei. In 1934, the Bruneian government provided financial assistance to the (Brunei Scout Movement) with an annual grant of B$150. Scout members were also given free uniforms by the government. The Asia-Pacific Scout Region is the divisional office of the World Scout Bureau of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, headquartered in Makati, Philippines, with satellite offices in Australia and Japan. Kampong Penanjong
Kampong Penanjong is a village in Tutong District, Brunei, on the outskirts of the district town Pekan Tutong. The population was 2,065 in 2016. It is one of the villages within Mukim Pekan Tutong, a mukim in the district. Facilities Penanjong Primary School is the village primary school; it was established in 1936. There is also Penanjong Religious School which is the village school for the primary level of the country's Islamic religious education. Basir Taha
Basir bin Taha (3 November 1913 – 25 October 1998) was a Bruneian teacher, school inspector, and welfare officer who made significant contributions to Education in Brunei, education, welfare, and religion in Brunei. He played a key role in shaping the nation's educational system, founding the Brunei Malay Teachers Association (PGGMB) and helping restructure religious education.
