Basir Taha
Basir bin Taha (3 November 1913 – 25 October 1998) was a Bruneian teacher, school inspector, and welfare officer who made significant contributions to Education in Brunei, education, welfare, and religion in Brunei. He played a key role in shaping the nation's educational system, founding the Brunei Malay Teachers Association (PGGMB) and helping restructure religious education. Basir also revitalised the Scout movement, founded the Kampong Birau Mosque, and contributed to welfare initiatives. As a member of the ''Kesatuan Melayu Brunei'' and advisor to then-Omar Ali Saifuddien III, Prince Omar Ali Saifuddien. Kuala Belait
Kuala Belait (KB; Jawi: ) is the administrative town of Belait District, Brunei. The population of the town proper was 4,259 in 2016. Kuala Belait is officially a municipal area (), as well as a village under the mukim of the same name. The town is located west of the country's capital Bandar Seri Begawan, and west of Seria, the district's other town. It is also in the westernmost part of country, near the mouth of the Belait River. History In 1914, a road connecting Kuala Belait and Brunei Town was completed. Kuala Belait was a small fishing village at the turn of the 20th century. The natives were Belait Malays who were mainly fishermen. There was a disagreement between the two groups of settlers which caused one of those groups to the relocated up to the west bank of the mouth of the Belait River. Salleh Masri
Mohd Salleh bin Masri (26 June 1919 – December 1997), pen name H. M. Salleh, was a Bruneian nobleman, nationalist politician, activist and an experience teacher who was among the founding members of the Brunei Youth Front () and Brunei People's Party (''Parti Rakyat Brunei)''. Him alongside Yura Halim were considered to be the country's first novelists. He was the initial head of the Brunei Nationalist Movement in the 1940s and 1950s. H. M. Salleh was the author of the book ''Tunangan Pemimpin Bangsa'', which he authored while spending 100 days in government custody in Kuala Belait, describing his experiences during the battle. Belait District
Belait District (; Jawi: دأيره بلأيت), or simply Belait (), is the largest as well as the westernmost district in Brunei. It has an area of and the population of 69,062 as of 2016. The administrative town is Kuala Belait, located at the mouth of the Belait River. Pengiran Haji Muhammad Ali bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad Daud (4 October 1916 – 16 June 2005), simply known as Pengiran Ali, was a Bruneian nobleman, teacher and politician whom formerly held the position of Deputy Menteri Besar from 1962 to 1965, Legislative, Executive, and Privy Councils. British Malaya
