Bruce Kaphan
Bruce Kaphan is a musician and recording engineer who has worked on many studio projects, often as a pedal steel player, from 1970 to 2011. In particular he was a member of American Music Club. He is also credited with engineering, mixing, and/or mastering over sixty albums, including several albums by The Crooked Jades and the solo cover album ''Loveless: Hurts to Love'' by Kenny Feinstein of the band Water Tower. Pedal Steel
The pedal steel guitar is a console steel guitar with pedals and knee levers that change the pitch of certain strings, enabling more varied and complex music to be played than with other steel guitar designs. Like all steel guitars, it can play unlimited glissandi (sliding notes) and deep vibrati—characteristics it shares with the human voice. Pedal steel is most commonly associated with country music and Hawaiian music. Pedals were added to a lap steel guitar in 1940, allowing the performer to play a major scale without moving the bar and also to push the pedals while striking a chord, making passing notes slur or bend up into harmony with existing notes. The latter creates a unique sound that has been popular in country and western music—a sound not previously possible on steel guitars before pedals were added. ''Wildflower'' is the fifth studio album by American singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow, first released September 27, 2005. Although the album debuted at No. 2 on the ''Billboard'' 200, it received mixed reviews and was not as commercially successful as previous albums, having also peaked at No. 25 on the UK Album Chart (where all her previous studio albums had been Top 10 successes). ''Mercury'' is the sixth studio album by American indie rock band American Music Club. It was released in March 1993 on Reprise Records as their major-label debut, while Virgin Records released the album in the United Kingdom. "I've Been a Mess" remained a staple of the band's concerts. The album's title comes from a beverage featured in the lyrics of "Challenger." Release "Johnny Mathis' Feet" and "Keep Me Around" were released as singles from ''Mercury''. The "Johnny Mathis' Feet" CD had a 10-track bonus live CD; it was recorded at Slim's in San Francisco on June 15, 1993, and is usually called ''Live at Slim's''. American Music Club
American Music Club was an American, San Francisco-based indie rock band, led by singer-songwriter Mark Eitzel. Formed in 1982, the band released seven albums before splitting up in 1995. They reformed in 2003 and released two further albums.
