Bruce Reginald French is an Australian pastor and agricultural scientist. French founded Food Plants International in 1999 with the goal of documenting food plants around the world. , there were 31,170 edible plant species detailed on its website. French was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in the 2016 Australia Day Honours list, for "distinguished service to agricultural science through the provision of edible plant information for improved food security, nutrition, and improved health outcomes for people in developing countries." On 29 October 2021, he was named the 2022 Tasmanian Senior Australian of the Year. A crop is a plant that can be grown and harvested extensively for profit or subsistence. When the plants of the same kind are cultivated at one place on a large scale, it is called a crop. The Order of Australia is an honour that recognises Australian citizens and other persons for outstanding achievement and service. Romaine Park
Romaine is a suburb of the City of Burnie in north-west Tasmania, Australia. The Romaine Reserve is 12.69ha of park lands that runs down the eastern side of the suburb, along Romaine Creek. The Reserve contains both remnant and exotic vegetation, with large mountain ashes, white gums, substorey blackwoods and man ferns. The walking tracks link up with Brooklyn Reserve. Romaine Creek is home to Engaeus yabbimunna a freshwater crayfish. The Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden was created in 1981 and is now a tourist attraction. Penguin is a town on the north-west coast of Tasmania, Australia. It is in the Central Coast Council local government area and on the Bass Highway, between Burnie and Ulverstone. At the , Penguin had a population of 4,132. History Penguin was first settled in 1861 as a timber town, and proclaimed on 25 October 1875. The area's dense bushland and easy access to the sea led to Penguin becoming a significant port town, with large quantities of timber shipped across Bass Strait to Victoria, where the 1850s gold rushes were taking place. The town was named by the botanist Ronald Campbell Gunn for the little penguin rookeries that are common along the less populated areas of the coast.
