Bruce Doucette
Bruce Doucette is an American sovereign citizen guru and self-proclaimed "Superior Court Judge of the Continental United States of America". Doucette, the owner of a computer repair shop in Denver, Colorado, advised people in encampments in Costilla County on how to oppose land-use regulations. At the commencement of the Bundy standoff at Malheur National Wildlife Refuge he announced that he would convene a " citizens grand jury" and threatened to hold "a trial with the redress of grievance" against county and other government officials. He was blocked by a judge from participating in the trial. In 2018, he was sentenced to 38 years in Colorado state prison after a two-week trial on 34 counts of racketeering, tax evasion, retaliation against judges and other charges. The sovereign citizen movement (also SovCit movement or SovCits) is a loose group of anti-government activists, conspiracy theory, conspiracy theorists, vexatious litigants, tax protesters and financial scammers found mainly in English-speaking common law countries—the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand.
