Broxburn F.C. was an association football club from Broxburn in West Lothian. History The club was founded in 1883 as Broxburn Thistle, its founder members including Thomas Paterson, who had been involved with the junior club Broxburn Star, and who was still playing for the club in 1893. Its first competitive football was in the East of Scotland Shield, Edinburgh Shield that season The first serious impact the club had on the local stage was reaching the final of the Consolation Cup in 1886–87, against Bo'ness F.C., Bo'ness, which went to three matches before Bo'ness won, albeit the second match was abandoned after Thistle fans swept onto the pitch in protest at the refereeing and refused to leave. Mossend is a small town in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, located on the A775 road to the immediate east of its 'sister town' Bellshill, west of the villages of Holytown and New Stevenston, north of the larger town of Motherwell and south of the Eurocentral industrial park and the M8 motorway. This was a Scottish non-league football (soccer) competition that ran at various times between 1891 and 1946. Eastern Alliance 1891–92 The Eastern Football Alliance was formed in 1891–92 by predominantly six Linlithgowshire clubs; Mossend Swifts, Armadale, Bathgate Rovers, Bo'ness, Broxburn, and Leith Hibernian (a club related to the original Hibernian). Kircaldy were later admitted to the league, but withdrew during the season and their results expunged. Leith Hibernian were dissolved before the tournament started, and were replaced by Adventurers. The league remained unfinished and was wound before the season finished. East of Scotland League 1893–94 The first East of Scotland Football League was formed in 1893–94 by six West Lothian clubs. The Scottish Football League (SFL) was a league featuring professional and semi-professional football clubs mostly from Scotland.One club, Berwick Rangers, is based in the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, which is located approximately 4 km south of the Anglo-Scottish border.
