	Shire Of Broomehill–Tambellup The Shire of Broomehill-Tambellup is a local government area in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, south-southeast of the state capital, Perth. The Shire covers an area of , and its seat of government is the town of Tambellup. It came into existence in 2008 through the amalgamation of the former Shire of Broomehill and Shire of Tambellup. History Shire of Broomehill The Broomehill Road Board was gazetted on 19 May 1892. The Shire covered an area of , and its seat of government was the town of Broomehill. History The Broomehill Road District was gazetted on 19 May 1892. On 1 July 1961, it became a shire following changes to the Local Government Act which reformed all remaining road boards into shires. On 1 July 2008, after ten months of planning and preparation, it merged with the neighbouring Shire of Tambellup to form the Shire of Broomehill-Tambellup. The Great Southern Highway and the Great Southern Railway, for the most part, form the eastern border of the locality. A small part of the gazetted townsite of Peringillup and a major part of the Peringillup Nature Reserve are located within Broomehill West. Broomehill West is located on the traditional land of the Kaniyang people of the Noongar nation. The townsite of Peringillup, located in the south-east of Broomehill West and in neighbouring Broomehill East, was established in 1907 as a siding on the Great Southern Railway. The town of Broomehill was established just prior to the completion of this railway in 1889, and gazetted in 1890.
