Columbus, Georgia
Columbus is a consolidated city-county located on the west-central border of the U.S. state of Georgia. Columbus lies on the Chattahoochee River directly across from Phenix City, Alabama. It is the county seat of Muscogee County, with which it officially merged in 1970. Columbus is the second-largest city in Georgia (after Atlanta), and fields the state's fourth-largest metropolitan area. Marshall Leonard
Marshall Leonard (born December 29, 1980 in El Paso, Texas) is an American soccer defender and midfielder, who last played for the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer. Leonard is African American. He attended high school in Columbus, Georgia, earning varsity letters at both Shaw High School and Brookstone School. He went on to play college soccer at the University of Virginia from 1998 to 2001. Leonard played and started in a total of 89 games at UVA while scoring one goal and 8 assists. Leonard was selected 45th overall in the 2002 MLS SuperDraft, and signed to a developmental contract. After spending his first year entirely on the bench, Leonard came on strong at the end of 2003, appearing in ten games, including five starts. Dmitri Matheny
Dmitri Matheny (born December 25, 1965) is an American jazz flugelhornist. Early career Matheny was raised in Columbus, Georgia, and Tucson, Arizona. He began playing piano at age 5 and switched to trumpet at age 9 while at the Brookstone School in Columbus. At age 12, his family relocated to Tucson, where he played in his school band program. He led his first group at 16 and received funding from the Tucson Jazz Society to continue his studies. In 1983–84 Matheny attended the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and from 1984–89 Berklee College of Music in Boston. Matheny performed regularly in the Boston area in 1987–88 with the True Colors Big Band led by composer Ken Schaphorst, and in 1988 with the non-profit Jazz Composers Alliance. Mack Strong
Mack Carlington Strong (born September 11, 1971) is a former American football player who was a fullback for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons. After playing college football for the University of Georgia, he was signed by the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 1993. Strong was selected the Pro Bowl twice in his career, in 2005 and 2006.
