Broderick Award
The Honda-Broderick Cup is a sports award for college-level female athletes. The awards are voted on by a national panel of more than 1000 collegiate athletic directors. It was first presented by Tom Broderick, an American owner of a women's sports apparel company, in 1977, with the first award going to Lusia Harris, who played basketball at Delta State University. The Honda Corporation has presented the award since 1987. To be nominated, an athlete must have won the Honda Sports Award for her sport. Winners are chosen in each of the 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports; three additional athletes are recognized as the Inspiration Award winner and Division II and III Athletes of the Year. All of these women are selected not only for their superior athletic skills, but also for their leadership abilities, academic excellence and eagerness to participate in community service. Julie Shea (born 3 May 1959) is a former American long-distance runner and politician. Early life While at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, North Carolina, she was the first ''Track and Field News'' "High School Athlete of the Year" in 1977 Her national record for female high-school mile was unbroken until 2012, when Wesley Frazier beat it. The California Golden Bears are the athletic teams that represent the University of California, Berkeley. 1985–86 Texas Longhorns Women's Basketball Team
The 1985–86 Texas Longhorns women's basketball team represented the University of Texas at Austin in the 1985–86 college basketball season. It was head coach Jody Conradt's tenth season at Texas. Kamie Ethridge
Mary Camille "Kamie" Ethridge (born April 21, 1964) is an American former basketball player and current basketball coach. She was an All-American point guard at the University of Texas at Austin and won a gold medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics. She is considered one of the best women's basketball players in history and was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002. The USC Trojans women's basketball team, or the Women of Troy, is the collegiate women's basketball team that represents the University of Southern California, in the Big Ten Conference. The Florida Gators swimming and diving program represents the University of Florida in the aquatics sports of swimming and diving. The program includes separate men's and women's teams, both of which compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Deitre Collins
Deitre Collins (born March 3, 1962) is an American volleyball coach and former player. She competed in the women's tournament at the 1988 Summer Olympics. While at Hawai'i, she won the Broderick Award (now the Honda Sports Award) as the nation's top collegiate volleyball player in both 1983 and 1984. Collins played professionally in Italy and France, winning two French League titles. After retiring as a player in 1992, she began her coaching career. She was hired as an assistant at Houston under Bill Walton in 1993, and subsequently served the same role at Northern Arizona and South Alabama. Collins accepted her first head coaching position at UNLV in 1996, where she spent eight seasons. Tracy Anne Stockwell, OAM, (born January 11, 1963), née Tracy Anne Caulkins, is an American former competition swimmer, three-time Olympic gold medalist, five-time world champion, and former world record-holder in three events. Caulkins was noted for her versatility and ability in all four major competitive swimming strokes: the butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke and freestyle.
