Ana Casas Broda
Ana Casas Broda (born 1965) is a Mexican photographer. She is known for her work ''Kinderwunsch'' (2013) which, created over seven years, explored "the joys and woes of motherhood, from sonograms and childbirth to playful adventures with her two sons". Life and work Casas was born in 1965 in Granada, Spain. Her father was Spanish and her mother was Austrian and her first language was German. Her grandmother was a photographer whose photographs inspired Broda. Throughout her childhood, Casas moved back and forth between Spain and Austria. Her parents had a "broken marriage," which would later motivate Casas to "heal the old wounds" in her new family. In 1974, Broda and her mother moved to Mexico City. She attended Casa de las Imágenes, Escuela Activa de Fotografía, the National University of Mexico, and the National School of Anthropology and History, studying photography, painting, and history. Abraham Ben Saul Broda
Abraham ben Saul Broda (Hebrew: ××‘×¨×”× ×‘×Ÿ ש×ול ברוד×; c. 1640 in Prague – 11 April 1717 in Frankfort/Main) was a Bohemian Talmudist (''Talmudforscher''). Biography Saul Broda sent his son to Cracow to pursue his Talmudic studies with Rabbi Isaac ben Ze'eb Ḥarif of that city, in order to withdraw him from what he considered the evil influences of Shabbethaism, at that time spreading throughout Bohemia. After receiving his rabbinical diploma, Broda returned to his native city, but was soon called as rabbi to Lichtenstadt/ HroznÄ›tín, and thence to Raudnitz/ Roudnice n.L. Even then his reputation was so great that Shabbethai Bass asked for his approbation to a book that Bass had written. Hence, when the office of chief rabbi of Prague became vacant about 1693, it was offered to Broda, who accepted it, although it was probably not very remunerative in consequence of the great fire of 1689, which impoverished many members of the congregation. Dave Broda
David Mike Broda (September 17, 1944 – June 13, 2010) was a Canadian politician. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1997 to 2004 as a member of the Progressive Conservative caucus. Political career Broda ran twice as the Progressive Conservative candidate in the federal electoral district of Beaver River, first in a 1989 by-election upon the death of incumbent John Dahmer and then in the 1993 federal election. He lost both times to Deborah Grey of the Reform Party. Broda ran in the 1997 Alberta general election as the Progressive Conservative candidate in the electoral district of Redwater. He defeated Liberal incumbent Mary Anne Balsillie by less than 300 votes. Broda ran for a second term in the 2001 Alberta general election. Joel Broda (born November 24, 1989) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre. He was selected by the Washington Capitals in the 5th round, 144th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career On May 7, 2010, Broda won the Ed Chynoweth Cup with the Calgary Hitmen. He scored his sole final series goal in the game 2, against his former WHL team, the Tri-City Americans. On July 13, 2010, Broda was signed as an unrestricted free agent by the Minnesota Wild to a three-year entry-level contract, and on September 23, 2010 he was assigned to their top farm team, the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League. Turk Broda
Walter Edward "Turk" Broda (May 15, 1914 — October 17, 1972) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach. A goaltender, Broda played his entire career for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL) between 1935 and 1951, taking a brief hiatus from 1943 to 1946 to fight in the Second World War. He was the first goaltender to reach 300 wins. After retiring from active play, Broda coached minor league and junior ice hockey teams. In 2017 Broda was named one of the '100 Greatest NHL Players' in history. Personal life Broda was born in Brandon, Manitoba to a Ukrainian family. Although he is commonly referred to as Polish by mistake (to the extent of him being inducted in the National Polish American Sports Hall of Fame in 2005), Publicity Director Stan Obodiac of the Maple Leafs, who knew Broda, dispelled this and confirmed Broda's Ukrainian origin.
