Britta Haßelmann
Britta Maria Haßelmann (born 10 December 1961) is a German politician of Alliance 90/The Greens who has been serving as co-chair of the Green Party’s parliamentary group in the Bundestag since 2021, alongside Katharina Dröge. From 2013 until 2021, she was the group’s first manager (). She has been a member of the Bundestag since 2005. Early life and career Haßelmann was born in Straelen and later studied social work at the University of Bielefeld. Political career Early beginnings Haßelmann became a member of the Green Party in 1994. From 2000 until 2006, she served – alongside Frithjof Schmidt – as co-chair of the Green Party in North Rhine-Westphalia, the party's largest chapter. Alliance 90/The Greens
Alliance 90/The Greens (, ), often simply referred to as Greens (, ), is a Green (politics), green political party in Germany. It was formed in 1993 by the merger of the Greens (formed in West Germany in 1980) and Alliance 90 (formed in East Germany in 1990). The Greens had itself merged with the East German Green Party after German reunification in 1990. Since November 2024, Franziska Brantner and Felix Banaszak have been co-leaders of the party. It currently holds 85 of the 630 seats in the Bundestag, having won 11% of first votes and 11.6% of second votes cast in the 2025 German federal election, 2025 federal election, putting it in fourth place of the seven political parties by number of seats. Frithjof Schmidt (born 17 April 1953 in Bad Harzburg) is a German politician of the Alliance 90/The Greens who served as member of the Bundestag from 2009 until 2021 and as Member of the European Parliament from 2004 until 2009. Early life and career Between 2006 and 2012, Schmidt was publisher-editor of German weekly newspaper ''Der Freitag''. Political career Schmidt became a member of Alliance 90/The Greens in 1988. From 1996 to 1998, he was a member of the party's federal executive board under the leadership of Gunda Röstel and Jürgen Trittin.
