Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC Ladies is a football team, playing in the Women's Welsh Premier League, to which they were promoted in 2024. Briton Ferry Llansawel run a senior ladies team, a ladies reserves team and a ladies youth team. The club plays its home matches at Old Road Ground, Briton Ferry, which has a capacity of 2,000. Briton Ferry () is a town and Community (Wales), community in the county borough of Neath Port Talbot, Wales. The Welsh name may indicate that the church, ''llan'', is protected from the wind, ''awel''. Alternatively, ''Sawel'' may be a derivative of Saul, St Paul's earlier name, who, supposedly, once landed at Briton Ferry. An alternative Welsh name unused today is ''Rhyd y Brython'', a direct translation of Briton Ferry. The Normans referred to the River crossing as ''La Brittonne'' and ''John Leland (antiquary), Leland'' in 1540 ''as Britanne Fery.'' The Adran Premier (, formerly the Welsh Premier Women's League), currently known for sponsorship reasons as Genero Adran Premier, is the highest level of league competition for women's football in Wales. Established in 2009, it is organised by the Football Association of Wales and features four semi-professional teams out of eight. The 2024–25 season of the Adran Premier, also known as Genero Adran Premier for sponsorship reasons, is the 16th season, 4th since the establishment of the current format, of the top-level women's football league in Wales. The general schedule of the 2024–25 edition has been published on 16 May 2024, with the regular season running from 15 September 2024 to 2 February 2025 and the championship conference and plate conference scheduled between 2 March 2025 and 13 April 2024. Adran South
The Adran Leagues (for sponsorship reasons called the Genero Adran Leagues) is the senior women's football league in Wales. Founded in 2009 as the Welsh Women's League, it rebranded in 2021 as the Adran Leagues. It consist of three divisions – the top tier is the Adran Premier, and the second tier is split geographically into Adran North and Adran South conferences. The Adran Leagues runs an annual competition for all clubs, known as the Adran Trophy. League competition Adran Premier As of 2024, the Adran Premier consists of eight teams. The FA of Wales Women's Challenge Cup, better known as the Welsh Women's Cup is the national women's football cup competition for Wales. It is run by the Football Association of Wales.
