British Indian Armoured Corps
The Indian Armoured Corps was a unit of the British Empire's Indian Army. The Corps was formed on 1 May 1941 to administer existing armoured units within the Indian Army. Its headquarters was located at Ferozepore. Firozpur, (pronunciation: Help:IPA/Punjabi, [fɪroːzpʊr]) also known as Ferozepur, is a city on the banks of the Sutlej River in the Firozpur District of Punjab, India. The Indian Army Armoured Corps is one of the combat arms of the Indian Army. Tracing its origins from the first regiment formed in 1776, the present corps was formed in 1947 from two-thirds of the personnel and assets of the British Indian Army's Indian Armoured Corps.
