Bright Msaka is a Malawian politician and educator. He was born 4 October 1959. Between 2000 and 2003 he was ambassador to Portugal, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. He was appointed as the Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, having been appointed to the position in 2014 by former president of Malawi Peter Mutharika. Malawi, officially the Republic of Malawi, is a landlocked country in Southeastern Africa. It is bordered by Zambia to the west, Tanzania to the north and northeast, and Mozambique to the east, south, and southwest. Arthur Peter Mutharika (born 18 July 1940) is a Malawi, Malawian politician and lawyer who was President of Malawi from May 2014 to June 2020. Mutharika has worked in the field of international justice, specialising in international economic law, international law and comparative constitutional law. He informally served as an adviser to his older brother, President Bingu wa Mutharika, on issues of foreign and domestic policy from the onset of his election campaign until the President's death on 5 April 2012. The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is a political party in Malawi. The party was formed in February 2005 by the then Malawian President Bingu wa Mutharika after a dispute with his party the United Democratic Front (UDF), which was led by him in a 2004 general elections and chaired by his predecessor, Bakili Muluzi. History The DPP party is an offshoot of the United Democratic Front. The UDF was formed by Bingu wa Mutharika and Bakili Muluzi and came to power in 1994 under Muluzi. After Muluzi's two terms were over, Mutharika succeeded him as head of the party and nation.
