Briggs Gordon
Michael Briggs Gordon (July 29, 1949 – February 12, 1988) was an American television host who was best known throughout the areas of Southern Illinois, Western Kentucky, Southeast Missouri, and surrounding states as "Uncle Briggs". He hosted a children's show on WSIL TV-3 in Harrisburg, Illinois, until 1982. Gordon took over for Cactus Pete on the Funny Company broadcast in the 1970s. His show featured characters, "Funny Company News", Three Stooges shorts, and cartoons such as '' Deputy Dawg''. The Three Stooges
The Three Stooges were an American vaudeville and comedy team active from 1922 until 1970, best remembered for their 190 short subject films by Columbia Pictures. Their hallmark styles were physical farce and slapstick. Deputy Dawg
Deputy Dawg is a Terrytoons cartoon character, featured on the animated television series of the same name that aired from 1960 to 1964. Background The character of Deputy Dawg originated in 1959 as part of a projected series entitled ''Possible Possum,'' intended as a component of the '' Captain Kangaroo Show''. Larz Bourne came up with the series concept and drew the first storyboards. Midway through production, the project was overhauled as a standalone series; Deputy Dawg became the star, and "Possible" was rechristened Muskie Muskrat, to avoid comparisons with Walt Kelly's comic strip character Pogo Possum. The following is a list of local children's television shows in the United States. These were locally produced commercial television programs intended for the child audience with unique hosts and themes. This type of programming began in the late 1940s and continued into the late 1970s; some shows continued into the 1990s. Author Tim Hollis documented about 1,400 local children's shows in a 2002 book, ''Hi There, Boys and Girls!'' The television programs typically aired in the weekday mornings before school or afternoons after school, as well as on weekends (to a lesser degree). There were different formats.
