Bridget Griffen-Foley
Bridget Griffen-Foley (born 27 June 1970) is a professor in the Department of Media, Communications, Creative Arts, Language and Literature, Macquarie University, New South Wales. She is author, co-author or editor of a large number of reference works and published articles on a wide range of topics relating to the histories of Australian newspapers, radio, and television outlets. Career Griffen-Foley gained her BA in Modern History and English from Macquarie University in 1991, with Honours in 1992. She gained her PhD in Modern History at Macquarie in 1996, followed by a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Sydney. She was appointed professor of Media Studies at Macquarie in 2013 and founder of the Centre for Media History in 2007, serving as its director 2007–2016. Publications Books *Griffen-Foley, B. Luke Aquinas Foley
Luke Aquinas Foley (born 27 July 1970) is a former Australian Labor Party politician who served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament of New South Wales from 2015 to 2018. Foley was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council since 19 June 2010 until his resignation to contest the Legislative Assembly seat of Auburn at the 2015 New South Wales election. Foley resigned after it was alleged that he had indecently assaulted an ABC journalist. Foley denies the allegations. Sir Warwick Oswald Fairfax (19 December 1901 – 14 January 1987) was an Australian businessman prominent in the arts as a philanthropist, journalist and playwright. He was a member of the wealthy Fairfax family of media proprietors. Biography Fairfax was the son of Sir James Oswald Fairfax (1863–1928) and great-grandson of John Fairfax. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts at Balliol College, Oxford after studying at Geelong Grammar and the University of Sydney (where he was resident at St. Paul's College). Sir Douglas Frank Hewson Packer (3 December 19061 May 1974), was an Australian media proprietor who controlled Australian Consolidated Press and the Nine Network. He was a patriarch of the Packer family. The ''Australian Dictionary of Biography'' (ADB or AuDB) is a national co-operative enterprise founded and maintained by the Australian National University (ANU) to produce authoritative biographical articles on eminent people in Australia's history. Initially published in a series of twelve hard-copy volumes between 1966 and 2005, the dictionary has been published online since 2006 by the National Centre of Biography at ANU, which has also published ''Obituaries Australia'' (OA) since 2010. History The ADB project has been operating since 1957. Staff are located at the National Centre of Biography in the History Department of the Research School of Social Sciences at the Australian National University.
