Bridget Andrews
Bridget Andrews (born 1993) is an English National Hunt jockey. In 2018 she became the second professional female jockey to ride a winner at the Cheltenham Festival when she rode Mohaayed to victory in the County Handicap Hurdle. In 2023 she achieved her second festival win in the same race. Early life Andrews grew up on the family farm in Bedfordshire where her parents, former jockeys Simon and Joanna, train point-to-pointers. Simon Andrews rode 170 point-to-point winners in his career, while Joanna rode nine winners in a shorter career. Simon Andrews also won the 1988 Foxhunters' Chase at Aintree on Newnham and the following year came tenth in the 1989 Grand National on the same horse. Bridget Andrew's older sister Gina and younger brother Jack are both amateur jockeys and have been ladies and mens champions in point-to-point. Harry Skelton
Harry Skelton (born 20 September, 1989) is a British jockey who competes in National Hunt racing. Skelton was the 2020-2021 British Champion Jump Jockey. Career Skelton started his racing career with Richard Hannon on the flat, before switching to jump racing and joined his brother, Dan, who was assistant trainer to Paul Nicholls in Somerset. In 2009, he became the youngest winner of the Irish Grand National on Niche Market trained by Bob Buckler. In 2011, he won his first Grade 2 race with Celestial Halo in the National Spirit Hurdle at Fontwell Park. In 2013, Skelton joined his brother who had set up Dan Skelton Racing in Warwickshire as the new yards lead jockey. Skelton has won a number of Grade 1 races including four at the Cheltenham Festival. In 2021, he was crowned British champion jump Jockey for the first time, riding 152 winners in the season. Mares' Novices' Hurdle Finale
The Mares' Novices' Hurdle Series Final is a Grade 2 National Hunt hurdle race in Great Britain which is open to mares and fillies aged four years or older. It is run at Newbury over a distance of about 2 miles and 4½ furlongs (2 miles, 4 furlongs and 118 yards, or 4,141 metres) and during its running there are 10 flights of hurdles to be jumped. The race is for novice hurdlers, and it is scheduled to take place each year in March. The race is a Limited Handicap and was awarded Grade 2 status in 2017. Nick Skelton
Nicholas David Skelton (born 30 December 1957, Bedworth, Warwickshire) is a British former equestrianism, equestrian who competed in show jumping. He retired at the age of 59 years old, on 5 April 2017. He began riding at age 18 months and in 1975 took two team silvers and an individual gold at the Junior European Championships. He has competed numerous times at the European Show Jumping Championships, winning three golds, three silvers and three bronzes both individually and with the British team over 26 years. In 1980, he competed in the 1980 Summer Olympics boycott, Alternative Olympics, where he helped the British team to a silver medal. He currently holds the British show jumping high jump record, which he set in 1978. His most notable successes occurred in back-to-back Olympic Games in the swansong of his career. The team jumping in equestrian at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held at Greenwich Park from 4 to 6 August. Great Britain's team consisting of Scott Brash, Peter Charles, Ben Maher and Nick Skelton won the gold medal in a jump-off, the first win in the event for Great Britain since 1952. Kempton Park Racecourse
Kempton Park Racecourse is a horse racing track together with a licensed entertainment and conference venue in Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey, England, 16 miles south-west of Charing Cross, London and on a border of Greater London. The site has of flat grassland surrounded by woodland with two lakes in its centre. Its entrance borders Kempton Park railway station which was created for racegoers on a branch line from London Waterloo, via Clapham Junction. Lanzarote Hurdle
The Lanzarote Hurdle is a National Hunt hurdle race in Great Britain which is open to horses aged four years or older. It is run at Kempton Park over a distance of about 2 miles and 5 furlongs (4,225 metres), and during its running there are ten hurdles to be jumped. It is a handicap race, and it is scheduled to take place each year in January. The event is named in memory of the racehorse Lanzarote (1968–1977), the winner of the Champion Hurdle in 1974, and was first run in 1978. Lanzarote had a particularly good record in races at Kempton, and he twice won the track's leading hurdle event, the Christmas Hurdle. Warwick Racecourse
Warwick Racecourse is a horse racing course in Warwick, England. It is a National Hunt racing course and has a programme of 25 meetings throughout the year, many of which are televised. The first stand was built in 1808, and its most recent redevelopment was completed in 2018. In the racecourse is a nine-hole golf course and a golf driving range. The area is a popular place for local people to walk their dogs. There is parking next to the course and it is a five-minute walk away from the town centre. The Many Clouds Chase is a Grade Two National Hunt steeplechase in Great Britain which is open to horses aged four years or older. It is run at Aintree over a distance of about 3 miles and 1 furlong (3 miles and 210 yards, or 5,020 metres), and during its running there are nineteen fences to be jumped. It is scheduled to take place each year in early December. The race was first run as a Listed race in 2011. It was awarded Grade Two status and renamed in honour of Many Clouds in 2017. In April 2023 the British Horseracing Authority announced the removal of the race from the 2023/24 programme.
