Brian Murphy (baseball)
Brian Murphy (born September 23, 1980) is an American baseball coach and former catcher, who is the current head baseball coach of the Merrimack Warriors baseball, Merrimack Warriors. He played college baseball at Merrimack from 2000 to 2003. He then served as the head coach of the William & Mary Tribe baseball, William & Mary Tribe (2014 NCAA Division I baseball season, 2014–2021) Playing career Murphy was a catcher at Merrimack Warriors baseball, Merrimack in North Andover, Massachusetts, where he served as captain in his senior season. Coaching career He began his coaching career at NCAA Division III, Division III member Wheaton Lyons baseball, Wheaton. Merrimack Warriors Baseball
The Merrimack Warriors are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent Merrimack College, located in North Andover, Massachusetts, in NCAA sporting competitions. All of the Warrior athletic teams compete at the Division I level. Men's and women's ice hockey compete in the Hockey East conference, and men's lacrosse competes in the America East Conference, while the remaining teams are members of the Northeast Conference. The college's combination of academic and athletic success has garnered Merrimack the #4 ranking in the country among NCAA Division II schools in the Top 100 Collegiate Power Rankings that are published by the National College Scouting Association. The 2016 NCAA Division I baseball tournament began on Friday, June 3, 2016, as part of the 2016 NCAA Division I baseball season. The 64-team, double-elimination tournament concluded with the 2016 College World Series (CWS) in Omaha, Nebraska, starting on June 18, 2016, and ending on June 30, 2016. The 64 participating NCAA Division I college baseball teams were selected out of 298 eligible teams. Thirty-one teams were awarded an automatic bid, as champions of their conferences; the remaining 33 teams were selected at-large by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee.
