Brian Christian de Claiborne Howard (13 March 1905 – 15 January 1958) was an English poet and later a writer for the ''New Statesman''. Biography Howard was born in Hascombe, Surrey, to American parents of Protestant descent. He was a descendant of Benjamin Franklin, and brought up in London. His father, Francis Howard Gassaway, was the son of the writer Frank Gassaway, and was an associate of James Whistler. His great grandfather, Stephen Griffith Gassaway, was Episcopal rector of Christ Church, Georgetown, D.C. His great-grandfather, John Wesley Chess, was married by a Methodist minister, and his great-grandfather, Rufus Washburn Carley, was a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church. He was educated at Eton College, where he was one of the ''Eton Arts Society'' group including Robert Byron, Harold Acton, Oliver Messel, Anthony Powell and Henry Yorke. Brian Eugene Howard (born October 19, 1967) is an American former professional basketball player. A 6'6" and 204 lb small forward from North Carolina State University, Howard played briefly for the NBA's Dallas Mavericks from 1992 to 1993. Brian Richard William Brotherton Howard (born 23 January 1983) is an English footballer who last played as a midfielder for Whitehawk. He made more than 300 appearances in the Football League, and also played for Bulgarian club CSKA Sofia. Internationally, he represented England from under-16 to under-20 level. Club career Southampton Howard started his career as a trainee with Eastleigh until moving to Premier League club Southampton in July 1999. However, his progress at the club suffered a setback when he suffered injuries on two separate occasions in the 1999–00 season. Bryan Howard (born October 7, 1976) is an American former sprinter. Howard ran for Canyon Springs High School in Moreno Valley, California. He was the 1993 CIF California State Meet champion in the 100 meters. He was unable to repeat in 1994 due to a false start. Earlier in the season, he had used his fast start to set the National High School Record of 5.69 in the 50 meters at the Sunkist Invitational. That record still stands. The year before, it was announced he had also broken the record, formerly held by Bill Green since 1979. The 2014 Chicago Air Route Traffic Control Center fire was an incident in the United States involving arson at an air traffic control facility in Aurora, Illinois (also known as " Chicago Center"); the incident caused close to 2,000 airline flights to be grounded. One employee at the facility was treated for smoke inhalation, while 15 to 30 employees were evacuated. Brian Howard, an employee of Harris Corporation, was charged in the incident. He made a guilty plea in federal court in May 2015, and in September of that year received a prison term of 12 1/2 years.
