Brian Goeltzenleuchter is an American conceptual artist and educator who works in olfactory art, social practice, and image making''.'' Early life and education Goeltzenleuchter was born in San Diego, California. In 2001 he received a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of California San Diego where he studied under David Antin and Allan Kaprow. Art Goeltzenleuchter's work has been exhibited at multiple locations such as The Institute for Art and Olfaction, The Walters Art Museum, The Banff Centre, Städtische Galerie Bremen, and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. In his artwork Goeltzenleuchter tries to "explore the dynamics between individuals and the cities and institutions which shape those relationships" through attempts to interpret public places such as crowded cities like Los Angeles. Olfactory art is an art form that uses scents as a medium. Olfactory art includes perfume as well as other applications of scent. The art form has been a recognized genre since at least 1980. David Antin
David Abram Antin (February 1, 1932 – October 11, 2016) was an American poet, critic and performance artist. Education and early career Antin was born in New York City in 1932. After graduating from Brooklyn Technical High School, he earned his B.A. from City College of New York in 1955 and his M.A. from New York University in 1966. He spent the first ten years of his career (1955-1964) as a translator of both scientific texts and fiction, including multiple scientific text translations (typically German to English) for Pergamon Press where he interacted frequently with the company's flamboyant founder, British publishing tycoon Robert Maxwell. By the late 1950s Antin had begun to experiment with writing fiction and poetry, with his first published work appearing in the ''Kenyon Review'' in 1959. Allan Kaprow
Allan Kaprow (August 23, 1927 – April 5, 2006) was an American painter, assemblagist and a pioneer in establishing the concepts of performance art. He helped to develop the "Environment" and "Happening" in the late 1950s and 1960s, as well as their theory. His Happenings — some 200 of them — evolved over the years. Eventually Kaprow shifted his practice into what he called "Activities", intimately scaled pieces for one or several players, devoted to the study of normal human activity in a way congruent to ordinary life.
