Opal Records was launched in 1987 by Brian Eno as label for the US market, where it was distributed by Warner Bros until 1993. Discreet Music
''Discreet Music'' is the fourth studio album by Brian Eno, and the first released under his full name (as opposed to simply "''Eno''"). The album is a minimalist work, with the titular A-side consisting of one 30-minute piece featuring synthesizer and tape delay. The B-side features three variations on Canon in D Major by Johann Pachelbel, performed by the Cockpit Ensemble and conducted by Gavin Bryars. While his earlier collaborations with Robert Fripp and several selections from '' Another Green World'' (1975) feature similar ideas, ''Discreet Music'' marked a clear step toward the ambient aesthetic Eno would later codify with 1978's '' Ambient 1: Music for Airports''. ''The Shutov Assembly'' is the twelfth solo studio album by Brian Eno, released on 10 November 1992 on Opal via Warner Bros. Records. One of Eno's ambient music, ambient albums, it was reissued in 2014 with a second disc with bonus tracks. It is considered the follow-up to ''Nerve Net'', which was released that same year. Overview The album is dedicated to Russian artist Sergei Shutov, and was created as an assembly of tracks for him, as he had mentioned to Eno the difficulty he had of getting Eno's music in the then-communist Russia. ''Nerve Net'' is the eleventh solo studio album by Brian Eno, released on 1 September 1992 on Opal and Warner Bros. Records. It marked a return to more rock-oriented material, mixed with heavily syncopated rhythms, experimental electronic compositions and occasional elements of jazz. The ambient sensibility is still present on several tracks, though it is often darker and moodier than the pieces Eno is best known for. The album released 12-inch and CD singles for the pieces "Ali Click" and "Fractal Zoom", both of which featured various remixes of the songs by the likes of Moby, Markus Dravs and Isaac Osapanin. ''Thursday Afternoon'' is the tenth solo studio album by English musician Brian Eno, released in October 1985 on EG Records. Consisting of one eponymous 60-minute composition, it is the rearranged soundtrack to an 80-minute video production of the same title made in 1984. Background Since recording ''Discreet Music'' in 1975, Eno had shown a strong interest in creating music that can influence the atmosphere of the space in which it is played, rather than be focused on directly. The ''Thursday Afternoon'' video was conceived as a series of seven "video paintings" which can be looked at in passing without demanding full attention from the viewer. Each of the segments depicts simple imagery that has been treated with visual effects, much in the same way as Eno's music is often made up of simple instrumental performances that have been treated with audio effects.
