Brian C. Shaw
Brian Campbell Shaw (November 8, 1930 – July 27, 1993) was a Canadian ice hockey coach. He was the head coach of the Edmonton Oilers of the World Hockey Association during the 1973–74 and 1974–75 WHA seasons. Shaw grew up in Nordegg, Alberta. He played junior ice hockey with the Jasper Place Mohawks. Shaw formerly coached the Moose Jaw Canucks, St. Catharines Black Hawks, and Edmonton Oil Kings junior teams. He took the Hawks from last place to first place in the Ontario Hockey Association during his first season. A fiery competitor, Shaw was suspended during the 1971–72 season because of an altercation with a fan. Shaw died in 1993, aged 62, of lymphoma. At the time of his death he had been the owner of the Portland Winterhawks. Edmonton Oil Kings (WCHL) Coaches
The Edmonton Oil Kings are a major junior ice hockey team based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, that play in the Western Hockey League (WHL). As of July 2008, they are owned by Daryl Katz's Oilers Entertainment Group, which also owns the Edmonton Oilers. The 2007–08 season was the newest incarnation of the Oil Kings' inaugural season in the WHL. Some NHL alumni include Tomas Vincour, Mark Pysyk, Curtis Lazar, Keegan Lowe, Griffin Reinhart, Henrik Samuelsson, Laurent Brossoit, Tristan Jarry and David Musil. Clare Drake
Clare James Drake (October 9, 1928 – May 13, 2018) was a Canadian ice hockey coach. He was the most successful coach in Canadian Interuniversity Sport men's hockey history. In 28 years as the head coach of the University of Alberta men's ice hockey team, he coached the Alberta Golden Bears to six University Cup championships and 17 Canada West conference championships. The "dean of coaching," Clare developed the game for more than 40 years, coaching at the high school, university, Olympic and WHA level. The only university coach to win a national championship in both hockey and football in the same year (1967), he was instrumental in the development of the National Coaching Certification and Coach Mentorship Programs. William Dickenson "Wild Bill" Hunter, (May 5, 1920 – December 16, 2002) was a Canadian ice hockey player, general manager and coach. Hunter was involved in hockey, Canadian football, baseball, softball and curling, but he is best known for founding the Western Hockey League (WHL), being a key player in the upstart World Hockey Association (WHA) and for his efforts to bring professional hockey to previously overlooked Western Canadian cities, especially in Edmonton and (unsuccessfully) in Saskatoon.
