Brian Browne
Brian Browne (March 16, 1937 – June 5, 2018) was a Canadian jazz pianist and composer. Born in Montreal, Quebec, Browne moved to Ottawa as a teenager and was playing professionally by the age of eighteen. Though largely self-taught, Browne attended the Berklee School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts and later studied with Oscar Peterson at Peterson's Advanced School of Contemporary Music in Toronto. Browne rose to prominence in the Canadian jazz scene in the early 1960s, performing in popular jazz venues in Ottawa and Toronto, and appearing in national weekly CBC Radio programs ''Adventures in Rhythm'', ''The Browne Beat'', ''Nightcap'', ''Jazz Canada'' and others. His group, the Brian Browne Trio, performed as the house band on the CTV musical variety program ''The River Inn''. Michel Donato (born August 25, 1942) is a Canadian jazz double bass player, composer, and singer and pianist. According to the ''Canadian Encyclopedia'', " s association with both scarPeterson and illEvans marks Donato as one of Canada's foremost jazz bassists...". He was made a member of the Order of Canada in 2007. Career Early years He grew up in a musical family, as his grandfather was a violinist and his father, Roland, was a saxophone, flute and piano player and dance band leader. Michel Donato studied accordion at age 10 and piano at age 12. He studied double bass from 1958 to 1961 at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal (CMM) with Roger Charbonneau. Paul Novotny (born May 26, 1966) is an American politician serving in the Minnesota House of Representatives since 2020. A member of the Republican Party of Minnesota, Novotny represents District 30B in east-central Minnesota, which includes the cities of Elk River and Otsego and parts of Anoka, Sherburne, and Wright Counties. Early life, education, and career Novotny grew up on a dairy farm in Elk River, Minnesota, and graduated from Elk River High School.
