Brian Bowman (politician)
Brian Thomas Douglas Bowman (born August 18, 1971) is a Canadians, Canadian politician, lawyer, and judge, who was the 43rd mayor of Winnipeg from 2014 to 2022. He was first elected in the 2014 Manitoba municipal elections, 2014 municipal election and was re-elected mayor for a second term in October 2018, increasing his plurality from 47% in the last election to a majority of 53%. Bowman was sworn in as a judge of the Court of King's Bench of Manitoba in March 2024. Early and personal life Bowman is a self-identified Métis, and is the first mayor of Aboriginal peoples of Canada, aboriginal descent in the city's history. Robert-Falcon Ouellette (born November 22, 1979) is a Canadian politician who represented the riding of Winnipeg Centre in the House of Commons of Canada from 2015 to 2019. He has also been a two-time candidate for Mayor of Winnipeg in the 2014 Winnipeg municipal election and the 2022 Winnipeg municipal election. Brady Road Landfill is a landfill in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Description The Brandy Road Landfill is a sprawling municipal landfill located on 1777 Brady Road, on the outskirts of Winnipeg. History The landfill caught fire in 2012. In 2013, the City of Winnipeg began capturing methane from the landfill originally using 42 gas well, expanding to 63 in 2017. One of the pipes broke in June 2018, preventing the flaring of the gas captured from three of the wells. In 2015, user fees at the landfill increased from a minimum of $11 to $15.
