Brett Heady
Brett Heady (born 4 January 1970) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with West Coast in the AFL from 1990 to 1999. He was named in West Coast's 'Team of the Decade' as a half forward. Heady was a handy wing/half-forward player who was an opportunist when it came to scoring goals. Heady played an important role in 1994, figuring heavily in the finals, kicking six against Melbourne in the preliminary final and then two in the Grand Final a week after, earning Heady his second AFL premiership medallion. In 1999, Heady succumbed to his injuries and announced his retirement from the AFL, at the age of 29 after 156 games for the Eagles. Subiaco Football Club
The Subiaco Football Club, nicknamed the Lions and known before 1973 as the ''Maroons'', is an Australian rules football club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and WAFL Women's (WAFLW). It was founded in 1896, and admitted to the WAFL in 1901, along with North Fremantle Football Club, North Fremantle. The club is currently based at Leederville Oval, having previously played at Subiaco Oval. History Subiaco was incorporated in 1896, establishing its base at a small playing arena within the environs of the Shenton Park Lake. During the club's embryonic period it played in the "First Rate Juniors" competition from 1896 to 1900 and enjoyed premiership success. The 1997 AFL season was the 101st season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season ran from 27 March until 27 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top eight clubs. Before the season, the Port Adelaide Football Club (SANFL) was admitted to the league, increasing the South Australian membership to two clubs. Foundation club Fitzroy, which had gone into administration in 1996, merged with the Brisbane Bears to form a new Queensland-based team known as the Brisbane Lions. The Footscray Football Club changed its name to the Western Bulldogs. With these changes, the league's size remained at sixteen clubs.
