Brenton Awa is an American politician serving as a member of the Hawaii Senate for the 23rd district. He assumed office on November 8, 2022. Early life and education Awa was born in Kaʻaʻawa, Hawaii, and graduated from Kahuku High & Intermediate School in 2004. He is Native Hawaiian and attended Clarion University with a grant from Kamehameha Schools. Career Prior to entering politics, Awa was a news anchor for KITV. Gil Riviere is an American politician who served as a Democratic member of the Hawaii Senate for the 23rd district from 2015 to 2023. He previously served as a Republican representative from Hawaii's 46th district. Elections Hawaii House of Representatives elections Riviere won the November 2, 2010 general election for Representative from Hawaii's District 46 against Larry Sagaysay with 54.2% of the vote. He was unopposed in the Republican primary for the office. Kahuku High & Intermediate School
Kahuku High & Intermediate School, located in Kahuku CDP, City and County of Honolulu, Hawaii, United States, on the island of Oahu, serves approximately 1,850 students in grades seven through twelve and is part of the Windward District on the island of Oahu. It is a part of the Hawaii Department of Education. The students of Kahuku are enrolled from the communities of Kaaawa, Hauula, Laie, Kahuku, and Sunset Beach which span a twenty-six mile stretch along the North Shore. Known as the "Pride of the North Shore," Kahuku High and Intermediate has academic and athletic programs and a Music Learning Center that features band and choral music which have garnered state and national recognition. Kamehameha Schools
Kamehameha Schools, formerly called Kamehameha Schools Bishop Estate (KSBE), is a private school system in Hawaii established by the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Estate, under the terms of the will of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, who was a formal member of the House of Kamehameha. Bishop's will established a trust called the "Bernice Pauahi Bishop Estate" that is Hawaii's largest private landowner. Originally established in 1887 as an all-boys school for native Hawaiian children, it shared its grounds with the Bishop Museum. After it moved to another location, the museum took over two school halls. Kamehameha Schools opened its girls' school in 1894. It became coeducational in 1965.
