Brendon (singer)
Brendon (born Brendon Dunning) is a British pop/folk rock singer. He had releases on Ariola Records and Magnet Records in the mid 1970s. One of his singles, "Gimme Some", a cover version of a disco song recorded the previous year by Jimmy "Bo" Horne, hit the UK Singles Chart in 1977, peaking at number 14 in March of that year. The follow up, a cover of ABBA's " Rock Me" failed to chart. He recorded his first album titled "Brendon" in 1974 with U.K. Records. In 2009 Brendon and Dave Levy (former band member) released new material under the name of Simple Country Folk. Their album is titled ''Long Time Coming''. In 2020 Brendon announced his return to music and his folk rock roots with his latest album "Hold My Hand". This is a list of artists who have achieved one number-one hit on the UK Singles Chart and no other entry on the chart. The list uses the strict '' The Guinness Book of British Hit Singles'' definition of "one-hit wonder", a term also commonly used more loosely to refer to any act known primarily for one major hit. Methodology A hit is attributed to the main artist given credit. If a single is released by two artists with the conjunction 'and' or 'versus' then both artists have equal billing (e.g. Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP, who have also been credited as Yolanda Be Cool vs. DCUP) and are both counted as having a number one (in this case "We No Speak Americano") whereas if the conjunction between two artists is 'featuring' or 'with' (or similar) then the first artist is considered the main artist for that hit, with the other artist listed being given a lesser billing (traditionally in these cases they would be additional vocalists or contributing instrumentalists, although in the 2 ... "Rock Me" is a song recorded in 1974 by Swedish pop group ABBA, with Björn Ulvaeus singing the lead vocals. It was first released on their third album, '' ABBA'', and was used as the B-side to the group's 1975 single " I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do". However, after "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" hit number one in both Australia and New Zealand, "Rock Me" was released as an A-side in April 1976, reaching number four and number two respectively. It was also issued as an A-side in Yugoslavia and in 1979 it was included on the band's '' Greatest Hits Vol. 2'' album. Jimmy "Bo" Horne
Jimmie Horace Horne, Jr. (born September 28, 1949, West Palm Beach, Florida, United States), known as Jimmy "Bo" Horne, is an American musician, singer and recording artist, whose most successful singles include "Gimme Some" (1975) and "Dance Across the Floor" (1978). Many of Horne's songs have been used on film and video game soundtracks or used as samples by other artists. Biography Horne was an only child and both his parents were school teachers. In 1971 he completed a sociology degree at Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach. He later relocated to Miami to begin his career as a recording artist. The peak of Horne's career came in the 1970s, recording disco and pop tracks for labels including Alston and Sunshine Sound Records, a subsidiary of TK Records. In popular music, a cover version, cover song, remake, revival, or simply cover, is a new performance or recording by a musician other than the original performer or composer of the song. Originally, it referred to a version of a song released around the same time as the original in order to compete with it. Now, it refers to any subsequent version performed after the original.
