Brendan Healy (comic)
Brendan Healy (18 December 1956 – 18 February 2016) was a British entertainer from North East England. Beginning as a musician (on keyboards and occasional trombone), he worked in television, becoming an actor, theatre writer and producer, and, later, a comedian. Early life and career Healy attended St Cuthbert's Grammar School in Newcastle upon Tyne and then enrolled on a music course at the College of Arts and Technology. He worked as a musician while studying and was then a member of a touring theatre group and the Second City Theatre Company. He played keyboards on the children's television series '' Razzamatazz'', and toured as a musician with several acts, including John Miles and Goldie and folk rock group Lindisfarne in the 1990s. He also wrote television signature music for Tyne Tees Television. He was musical director with Ken Hill at the Newcastle Playhouse, establishing the first Narnia books performed on stage. Sunday For Sammy
''Sunday for Sammy'' is a series of biennial Benefit concert, charity concerts held in aid of the Sammy Johnson Memorial Fund, which benefits young performers. The fund was established in memorial to Sammy Johnson, an actor from North East England, who died suddenly in 1998. The concerts have been held at Newcastle City Hall, with the exception of 2006, when the show was hosted at The Glasshouse, Gateshead, Sage Gateshead. Due to the popularity of tickets, the 2018 and 2020 events were held at Metro Radio Arena. Following Covid-19, the next event was expected to be held in 2023; however, "due to the cost-of-living crisis" and the high production costs, the charity's trustees decided that the event would not be a good use of the charity's funds. The show is performed twice on one day, with each being recorded for a DVD release, from which 75% of profits go to the fund. Ian La Frenais (born 7 January 1937) is a retired English writer best known for his creative partnership with Dick Clement. They are most famous for television series including '' The Likely Lads'', ''Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?'', ''Porridge'' and its sequel '' Going Straight'', ''Lovejoy'' and ''Auf Wiedersehen, Pet''. Early life La Frenais was born in Monkseaton, Northumberland; his father was an accountant. As a child at Park Primary School in Whitley Bay, La Frenais enjoyed art and writing. He then attended Dame Allan's Boys School in Newcastle upon Tyne, and completed his National Service in the British Army. Brian Johnson
Brian Johnson (born 5 October 1947) is an English singer and songwriter. In 1980 at the age of 32, after the death of Bon Scott, he became the third lead singer of the Australian rock band AC/DC. Johnson was one of the founding members of the rock band Geordie (band), Geordie, which was formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1971. After several hit singles, including the UK Top 10 hit "All Because of You" (1973), the band split in 1978. Mill Volvo Tyne Theatre
The Tyne Theatre and Opera House is a theatre in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It is a Listed building, Grade I listed building, rated "in the top 4% of listed buildings" by English Heritage and is afforded a three star (the highest) rating by the Theatres Trust, "a very fine theatre of the highest theatrical and architectural quality". It opened in 1867 as the Tyne Theatre and Opera House, designed by the Newcastle upon Tyne architecture practice of William Parnell.
