Breeze Transit
Breeze Transit (previously Sarasota County Area Transit, or SCAT) provides public transportation for Sarasota County, Florida and is operated by the county. Breeze maintains 14 fixed-line bus routes, four curb-to-curb service zones, and a dial-a-ride paratransit service. The majority of the routes operate from Monday through Saturday, with select service on Sundays. Bus routes Breeze operates 14 different local bus routes that serve the cities of Sarasota, Venice, North Port, the Town of Longboat Key, and other communities of Sarasota County. Additionally, service also extends into and is coordinated with Manatee County. Breeze's paratransit service, delivered by private vendor Ride Right, provides trips to qualified people who cannot use the fixed-route service due to a disability or being transportation disadvantaged. The ''Sarasota Herald-Tribune'' is a daily newspaper, located in Sarasota, Florida, United States, founded in 1925 as the ''Sarasota Herald''. History The newspaper was owned by The New York Times Company from 1982 to 2012. It was then owned by Halifax Media Group from 2012 to 2015, when New Media Investment Group acquired Halifax. Orion I
The Orion I was a line of rigid high-floor transit buses made in 30-, 35-, and 40-foot lengths by Ontario Bus & Truck (renamed to Ontario Bus Industries (OBI) in 1977) between 1976 and 1993 for the Canadian and United States mass transportation markets. The Orion I was the first bus offered by OBI and was available in transit (2-door) and coach/suburban (1-door) models. Orion V
The Orion V was a line of rigid high-floor transit buses available in 32', 35', and 40' lengths manufactured by Ontario Bus Industries (renamed Orion Bus Industries in 1995) between 1989 and 2009. The conventionally powered buses, either with longitudinally mounted diesel or natural gas engines, used a T-drive transmission coupling. The Gillig Phantom is a series of buses that was produced by an American manufacturer Gillig Corporation in Hayward, California. The successor to the long-running Gillig Transit Coach model line, the Phantom marked the transition of Gillig from a producer of yellow school buses to that of transit buses. The first transit bus assembled entirely by Gillig (from 1977 to 1979, the company assembled a few buses in a joint venture with Neoplan), the Phantom was produced exclusively as a high-floor bus (with step entrance). Gillig Low Floor
The Gillig Low Floor (originally named Gillig H2000LF and also nicknamed Gillig Advantage) is a transit bus manufactured by Gillig since 1997. Introduced as a second product range by the company (alongside the Gillig Phantom), the Low Floor later replaced the Phantom entirely. Since 2008, the model line has become the sole vehicle platform produced by Gillig. The Low Floor was the second low-floor bus design introduced in the United States, following the New Flyer Low Floor.
