Aron Simis
Aron Simis is a mathematician born in Recife, Brazil in 1942. He is a full professor at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, Brazil, and Class A research scholarship recipient from the Brazilian Research Council. He earned his PhD from Queen's University, Canada. He has previously held a full professorship at IMPA (Instituto Nacional de Matemática Pura e Aplicada, Instituto de Matemática Pura e Applicada) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was president of the Brazilian Mathematical Society and member on several occasions of international commissions of the IMU (International Mathematical Union) and TWAS (Academy of Sciences for the Developing World). Jaqueline Godoy Mesquita (born 1985) is a Brazilian mathematician specializing in differential equations and functional differential equations. She is a professor of mathematics at the University of Brasília. Education and career Mesquita was born on 20 September 1985. After graduating from the University of Brasília in 2007, she earned a Ph.D. at the University of São Paulo in 2012, with the dissertation ''Measure functional differential equations and impulsive functional dynamic equations on time scales'', jointly supervised by Marcia Cristina Anderson Braz Federson and Antonín Slavík, based in part on work as a visiting student at the Czech Academy of Sciences. Marcelo Miranda Viana da Silva (born 4 March 1962) is a Brazilian mathematician working in dynamical systems theory. He proved the Zorich–Kontsevich conjecture together with Artur Avila. He was a Guggenheim Fellow in 1993. He received the TWAS Prize in 1998 and in 2005 he was awarded the inaugural ICTP Ramanujan Prize for his research achievements. Viana was vice-president of the International Mathematical Union in 2011–2014, and president of the Brazilian Mathematical Society (2013–2015). Suely Druck is a Brazilian mathematician and two-time president of the Brazilian Mathematical Society. Life and work Suely Druck holds a degree in Mathematics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1970) and a master's degree in Mathematics from the National Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics Association (1977). She earned her D.Sc. at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in 1984 under the supervision of Paul A. Keti Tenenblat (born 27 November 1944) is a Turkish- Brazilian mathematician working on Riemannian geometry, the applications of differential geometry to partial differential equations, and Finsler geometry. Together with Chuu-Lian Terng, she generalized Backlund theorem to higher dimensions. Education Tenenblat was born on 27 November 1944 in İzmir, Turkey, where she attended elementary and junior high school at an Italian school. In 1957, her family emigrated to Brazil. In Rio de Janeiro, she graduated from high school at Bennett College and joined the National Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Brazil (today UFRJ), in the Mathematics Degree.
