Braxton is a village in Simpson County, Mississippi, United States. The village's population was 181 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Jackson, Mississippi Metropolitan Statistical Area. Its zip code is 39044. History The village of Braxton was named after Ira Braxton Standifer, the son of a physician. The population of Braxton as of 2015 was 181. Braxton is approximately 9 miles north of Mendenhall, the county seat of Simpson County and 19 miles north of Magee, Simpson County's largest city. In 2015, the town of Braxton welcomed a brand new town hall. The current mayor of Braxton is Stephanie Lee. In 2020, the population of Braxton was 179. Braxton County, West Virginia
Braxton County is a county in the central part of the U.S. state of West Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 12,447. The county seat is Sutton. The county was formed in 1836 from parts of Lewis, Kanawha, and Nicholas counties and named for Carter Braxton, a Virginia statesman and signer of the Declaration of Independence. In 2010, the center of population of West Virginia was in northern Braxton County. Important salt works were located at Bulltown and here, in 1772, Captain Bull and his family and friendly Delaware Indians were massacred by frontiersmen. Jesse Hughes helped Jeremiah Carpenter track and kill the Indians responsible for the Carpenter massacre. Jeremiah was a notable fiddle player who wrote a song Shelvin’ Rock about the experience of escaping to rock shelter. The Braxtons
The Braxtons are an American musical quintet consisting of singer Toni Braxton and her younger sisters, Traci Braxton, Towanda Braxton, Trina Braxton, and Tamar Braxton. Despite being commercially unsuccessful, the group's first single, " Good Life", led to oldest sister Toni's solo career. All five members reunited in 2011 to star in the WE tv reality television series '' Braxton Family Values'' alongside their mother, Evelyn Braxton. In October 2015, the group released the album '' Braxton Family Christmas''. History The Braxtons' parents are Rev. Michael Braxton Sr. (born June 26, 1947) and Evelyn Braxton (born January 14, 1948). Their first child, Toni Michele Braxton was born on October 7, 1967.
