Brave Old World (comics)
''Brave Old World'' is a four issue comic book miniseries published by Vertigo Comics. It is about a group of computer hackers who at the turn of the year 2000 are working on a solution to the Y2K bug when they are transported back in time a hundred years to 1900. The series follows their adventures as they try to build a computer using the technology of the time, in order to make their way back to their own time. The first issue came out in February 2000. Vertigo Comics
Vertigo Comics, also known as DC Vertigo or simply Vertigo, was an imprint of American comic book publisher DC Comics started by editor Karen Berger in 1993. Vertigo's purpose was to publish comics with adult content, such as nudity, drug use, profanity, and graphic violence, that did not fit the restrictions of DC's main line, thus allowing more creative freedom. A security hacker is someone who explores methods for breaching defenses and exploiting weaknesses in a computer system or network. Hackers may be motivated by a multitude of reasons, such as profit, protest, information gathering, challenge, recreation, or evaluation of a system weaknesses to assist in formulating defenses against potential hackers. The year 2000 problem, also known as the Y2K problem, Y2K scare, millennium bug, Y2K bug, Y2K glitch, Y2K error, or simply Y2K refers to potential computer errors related to the formatting and storage of calendar data for dates in and after the year 2000. Many programs represented four-digit years with only the final two digits, making the year 2000 indistinguishable from 1900. Computer systems' inability to distinguish dates correctly had the potential to bring down worldwide infrastructures for industries ranging from banking to air travel. William Messner-Loebs
William Francis Messner-Loebs (; born William Francis Loebs, Jr., February 19, 1949) is an American comics artist and writer from Michigan, also known as Bill Loebs and Bill Messner-Loebs. His hyphenated surname is a combination of his and his wife Nadine's unmarried surnames. In the 1980s and 1990s he wrote runs of series published by DC Comics, Image Comics, Comico, and other comics publishers, including DC's superhero series ''Flash'' and ''Wonder Woman'' among others. Additionally he has both written and drawn original creator-owned works, such as '' Journey: The Adventures of Wolverine MacAlistaire''. Guy Davis (comics)
Guy Davis (born 1966) is an American creature designer, concept artist, illustrator and storyboard artist who has worked on film, television, comic book and video game projects. He is known for his collaborations with filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, including the television series '' The Strain'' (2014–17) and the films ''Pacific Rim'' (2013), ''Crimson Peak'' (2015) and ''The Shape of Water'' (2017). Beforehand, Davis was the regular artist for the ''Hellboy'' spinoff comic ''B.P.R.D.'' (2003–2010), as well as the artist behind his own creator-owned comic ''The Marquis'' (2009). Phil Hester (comics)
Phil Hester (born 1966) is an American comic book artist, penciller and writer. Early life Phil Hester is an alumnus of the University of Iowa. He is originally from North English, Iowa. Career Hester's pencilling credits include ''Swamp Thing, Brave New World, Flinch, Ultimate Marvel Team-Up, Clerks: The Lost Scene, The Crow: Waking Nightmares, The Wretch'' (nominated for the 1997 Eisner Award for Best New Series), ''Aliens: Purge'', and ''Green Arrow''. During his run on '' Green Arrow'', he created the characters Mia Dearden and Onomatopoeia with writer Kevin Smith as well as Constantine Drakon with writer Judd Winick.
